Thunderbird Club

I stand corrected. It's great to see that Asleep at the Wheel is still alive and kicking. The Austin airport is pretty amusing with the giant guitars on the baggage carousels. There's a bronze statue of Willie Nelson downtown somewhere. I wonder what Willie Nelson thinks of being memorialized in bronze in an area surrounded by corporate office buildings.
Willie and Stevie are both 10-15 minute walk from my workplace.

What to play.......... 😻

not at this one……Austinites got it right…. least they could do for their guests, proclaiming themselves “Musical Capital of the USA”……

Nashville is the same story. You get off the plane and all thru the terminal, to baggage claim and out to ground transportation you’re greeted with one band after another playing some darn good music. What a way to fly!

I might just join you, as soon as I replace the stock pups with the Gibson ReIssues. Have all the parts, just need the time.

I'm curious to know what pots/cap your has in it George, I'm probably going to rewire mine to the same spec as my Lull T4.

yeah, apparently the two cities hotly dispute the “Music Capital” title…..meanwhile you fly into SFO and all you get is ancient pics of Santana, Bonnie Raitt and Jerry Garcia…….cheapskates..

Still probably better than Seattle! :woot:

I'll be more than happy to put the tone knob on it for you. Just send it my way and I'll be glad to fix it. Turnaround time is really slow these days, however. :smug:

I’ll take a look today and let you know.

LOL - kinda looks that way, but this one is actually wired master Vol, master Tone, pup selector.

Although I wouldn’t want it in all my basses, that pup toggle really works interestingly in this one. In neck mode sounds just as good as any bird with a full throated deep voice, in bridge mode it sings nice and clear and crisp. But put it in the center position and both pickups combined end up canceling each other out across nearly the entire mid range giving a very very pronounced and sometimes useful scoop to the output, you get all the thundering lows from the neck and all the clean highs from the bridge but almost nothing in between. Very interesting sound and a super quick on the fly voicing change that I would think would be very gig friendly. None of my other basses are wired this way, I’m surprised at how well it works and how dramatic a change it makes.

Our airport is currently my least favorite place to be. It's going to be a whole lot better if they ever get done with the endless construction projects. Every time I think they can't screw it up any more, they do.
my first impression of that airport was breathtaking…..clean, quiet, orderly…..mind you I was flying in from Logan which always seems on the hairy edge of controlled chaos…..

right, but not at the airport..
I've seen some very cool music related & otherwise exhibits at SFO terminals over the years - one was a very comprehensive history of R&R (photo's/posters/records/guitars/ memorabilia) and had Link Wray's Long-horn Dano displayed.

You must have come into the north terminal. That is one place the mess is finished. The baggage claim area has been a cluttered up fiasco for at least a year. I haven't had to fly for a few months, though. If the mess has finally been cleaned up so it doesn't seem like a maze for rats any more, it could be a pretty decent airport again, if busy.

The baggage claim is still a bit of a mess.
Luckily when I came I had no checked luggage.
