Thunderbird Club

IIRC - the Standard line of DBirds was built in China and the Custom line of DRocs were built in Canada.
Dingwall didn’t go the Squier/Fender or Epiphone/Gibson route to differentiate the origin of the bass, they just call one a Standard and the other a Custom. At least I think that’s how it works, I’m not an expert on their brand.
I think dingwall calls it hybrid manufacturing on their website. It’s definitely a step up from fender or Gibsons import lines

Considered using my recently acquired Dano Long-horn on Sunday at Winters' but my Teiscobird has a drop-D for "Heroes", our next to last song. It also consitantly sounds awesome (rehearsal, recording, live) and besides it's been my go-to TSC bass for years. I never bring two basses - that's a guitarist thing. The Dano will get some love for a future TSC gig.

I always bring two basses. If there's a lot of room I bring three! I also bring a spare amp.

I have brought a spare amp. I've had one fail mid-set in the past. Never had an issue bass-wise and one more bass is just one more thing to schlep and keep an eye on. Plus, our sets are usually 45min, on & off the stage ASAP.

I broke a G string once, and once had a wiring fail (stray bit of shielding). My MB200 weighs 2.2 pounds and fits in the pocket of a gigbag.
Sometimes the spare bass is a FSO in a gig bag crammed in the corner.

I always bring bring two basses as well, having broken E's, A's etc. multiple times onstage in front of a lot of people - I can say for certain nobody want to watch a string change. One bass = none, 2 basses = one.

I know it happens but I've never broke a string playing. I just don't play that aggressively. With 8 bands over the day tomorrow on the hr starting at noon - there will be no lack of available equipment if an emergency occurs. :)

I get it - different circumstances. :bassist::bassist:

I usually bring two basses, in one of my bands it’s because we are either Eb standard or D standard. So, in a pinch, if I break a string, I can tune up or down the other one. In the other band it’s because of exactly what V said above. I do play a bit aggressive, but with fingers, not a pick, and although it is rare that it happens, if it does, I want to be able to remedy the situation fast.

I mostly always bring a backup amp. This came in handy last Friday as I let the opener use my whole rig. I don’t think it had any issues while he was using it, but he had the gain and master cranked father then I EVER go. Then, when I was on, the head kept dropping out for like 3 seconds and then coming back on. Super aggravating. Since the headliner was also using my rig, I swapped the Orange TB500 for an Ampeg Venture V7 that I almost always bring when I’m using my AD200 all tube head. I do not usually bring it when I use the TB500, but this night I did. So the headliner got to use my new amp before I ever did, as I have only set it up and played it a couple times at home. Thing sounded great.

I have found no reason for the TB500 to have done what it did and I have been playing through it at home all week, using all the same cords, etc. So I plan to use it tomorrow, BUT, the V7 will be set up right under it so I can swap speaker cables and the power cord in less than one minute, if the problem shows its head again.

I will be playing through Sunday’s set at home today at the volume I usually use this rig at when live, trying one last time to re-create the problem it had last Friday. IF I happens again, then I’ll just plan to use the V7
