Compared to the 400 in the '76 Cordoba, yes! It was not draggy or as bad as you would think. It was fine for what it was and I never complained. Got decent MPG. I also had the Dodge version (St. Regis) with a 318. Best car I ever owned in terms of service. Literally could not make that car run bad. I swapped carbs from a '80 Cordoba that didn't run well and put the shaky carb on the Dodge and the good one on the Cordoba. Fixed the Cordoba and the Dodge didn't care one bit. Only problem I had with the car was the hood latch gave way while on the expressway. Driving 60 and all of the sudden trying to see out the little crack of light at the base of the windshield was something new. To make matters worse it scared my wife. When she jumped she slung juice right in my face. between trying to see through the small opening with juice running down my face and in my eyes was an experience. Got a used hood from a junk yard (same color) and it was good to go again. Even got a $119 Macco paint job and drove it till 140k.

Gave it to a friend from Nigeria who needed a car. (In part because I was getting tired of having to go rescue and fix his car.) He drove if several more years.
I had a ‘73 Satellite with the 318 that I drove for a couple years in the early eighties. It was plenty capable, given it had pre-5 MPH bumpers and wasn’t choked to death by crude smog equipment.

I like the flaming in your guard. I went with the more traditional tort on my ThunderCaster along with a reverse bird flying a Fender “F”. It’s meant to be controversial, equally despised by Fender and Gibson fans alike.

I like this a lot; I'd like it even more with a clear PG like Chuck's, to show off that gorgeous three tone burst!

Yeah it looks like a 70, but someone has changed it to a 3 point.
I'd rather have the original beat up finish than this:

You mean the stripped version? I'm thinking I'd have sanded this sort of thing down before sending it for painting (since he didn't want to pay for a full refin).

That finish is not my cup a tea. Looks like a backyard rustoleum rattle can job to me. I’m kinda “either-or” on guitar finishes - either you do your best to make it look nice and new or you leave it original and enjoy the mojo. JMHO

They need to stop being cheap and buy some sandpaper. Even I can to that much.
