Vintage 1913 Gibson Mando Bass Style J -Natural- For Repair & Restoration 1920's | eBay
To the best of my knowledge this bass was made in 1913 and these Style J Mando Basses were made in small quantities between 1912 throughout throughout the 1920's and 1930's. The Mando Bass serial number is 15722 as best I can make out but the label inside is very faded and hard to read.www.ebay.com

LOL - that’s pretty close to the going rate for a vintage 1960’s Tbird project these days.
Yes indeed, very sad news. I had the good fortune to see him a couple of times and enjoyed reading his autobiography. He brought a unique and unconventional approach to the bass. I have tried to imbibe a little of his style in my own playing. Fly on Phil.

That I don't know. They let me play a sweet '62 J with a $20+K tagger but that bass was in a corner and I doubt if they allowed anyone to play it.
