I looked at it again and while I like the sparkly blue, the shape isn't doing it for me. It is reinforcing my concept to build a slightly downsized 32" scale NR.

I just looked it up. There are apparently two versions. Yep, one was the version I saw in the late 70s or maybe 1980.

Yes the Orville had a 3 point originally. I'm planning to round the edges, do a belly cut and refinish in a nitro colour.

So are these all visual sketches? I like certain ideas of these retro versions but the current corvette more modern design is pretty cool as-is.

I'm not sure about sketches. Seemed like a mock-up, but I only watched a bit of it.

Just AI dreams. They have them on YT for a whole bunch of cars that they dream could come back in 25, in the weird dream configurations they display.

Yeah. I was interning at at TV station in 1981-82. The guy I was working for had it on tape. It was directed By Kevin Godley and Lol Creme of 10cc.

We did a listening session for the DJB recording project last night. All of the bass tracks were recorded with my VP/Cobalt flats. I keep reading posts where people say the 760s are a bit shy in the low end. Low end is not lacking at all.

Mine definitely got better when I cranked the pickups close to the strings, but of my birds, it had the least bottom. This was true with EBCFs and more so with Roto 66s. Although with the latter, it PWN3D the Angry Piano sound.

So a lot of us are familiar with the Greco pickups, but does anyone have experience with the Orville pickups? Are they at all similar to the Grecos? I saw one post comparing them more closely to the '76 Gibsons, anyone with first hand experience between all three?

I have a 91 Orville "by Gibson" which apparently means the pickups are Gibson USA. They are in nickel covers, definitely alnico magnets and sound pretty good.
@TBird1958 has an Orville than came with pickups with ceramic magnets. They look like TBplus in metal cover.

I put Gibson reissues in the bass and then changed the bridge and the strings, so I didn't get a proper A/B comparison.
I also rewired the bass with Phoenix connectors on the pots to make pickup swaps easy, with the intention of doing a pickup shootout - Gibson reissues/Chinabuckers/Barts/Orvilles. But I still haven't got to it. Hopefully I'll have some time around Christmas

The originals ( I should say the pickups in it when I bought it) in mine are TB Plus with chrome covers, they were not very good sounding - as Scott says "Like pounding dead meat", thus I tried some EY's and finally Seymour Duncan custom shop. The thing that really helped was changing the pots out, I wasn't ever inclined to do so until only within the last year, the wiring compartment was a picture of tidy workmanship and I just didn't suspect that it was the root of the bass never really sounding good. A re-wire with 500K pots made all the difference, the bass is very lively sounding and has become a fave.

Soloing the bridge pickup along with a little EQ and you're right there copping Andy Fraser - woofy goodness!
