Really hate to hear that. I hope Beth and you get to feeling better soon. Stay hydrated. Nothing seems to help much unless you can get Tamaflu in the first couple of days. Unless you live with a Doc, that's unlikely.I have been movin' slow the last few days - my partner got How To Tell if You Have Influenza A. earlier in the week (thought it was a cold) and gave it to me for Christmas. I got the flu-shot a couple months ago or it would have been worse for me. It feels like flu to me, but as I haven't had the flu for years now (a fringe benefit of Covid where before the lock-down everyone was walking around infecting each other) I don't know how else to compare it. Bond Girl had to cancel our Music City SF show last night. Beth had it worse, so much so we had to visit the Emergency Room last night around midnight because she was having a hard time breathing. She has asthma issues but luckily it wasn't Covid and was stable after doing tests & x-rays. We were told it's hitting the whole country hard right now - so if you haven't got your flu-shot I highly recommend it. Influenza A is the one from the 1918 pandemic that killed millions of people around the world. Be safe - not sorry gang.
I've had the flu twice (as an adult anyway). Thee first day it might have felt like a cold, but after that no cold has ever made me feel that bad. Everything hurt, even my butt and my hair the first time (not referring to the same location), fever, and was out for a week with lingering effects after that. I get a kick out of people who say they had the flu for a 2-3 days and kept going to work. I tell them that was a cold, not a the flu, or you have some kind of super immune system.
I have always gotten the flu shot after the first time. Still felt horrible the second time but just a fuzz less bad. I thought the shot was on target that year and didn't think I would feel that bad. I asked the Doc about it later and he said, It kept you out of the hospital didn't it, so it did it's job and that's about all you can hope for with the shots.
Weekly US Map: Influenza Summary Update
It's not high in the state, but is "very high" in Louisville.
You know, come to think of it, maybe we had the flu and the shots helped. No fever, but I was more sick than just a cold. Who knows.
