Thunderbird Club

I have been movin' slow the last few days - my partner got How To Tell if You Have Influenza A. earlier in the week (thought it was a cold) and gave it to me for Christmas. I got the flu-shot a couple months ago or it would have been worse for me. It feels like flu to me, but as I haven't had the flu for years now (a fringe benefit of Covid where before the lock-down everyone was walking around infecting each other) I don't know how else to compare it. Bond Girl had to cancel our Music City SF show last night. Beth had it worse, so much so we had to visit the Emergency Room last night around midnight because she was having a hard time breathing. She has asthma issues but luckily it wasn't Covid and was stable after doing tests & x-rays. We were told it's hitting the whole country hard right now - so if you haven't got your flu-shot I highly recommend it. Influenza A is the one from the 1918 pandemic that killed millions of people around the world. Be safe - not sorry gang.

I can live with a little slop as long as it's not a pain to get tuned and/or won't stay in tune. I'm used to some old basses not always having perfect tuners as can be found today.
The only bass I had to swap tuners on were the horrible tuners on my MIM Mustang PJ that I got when they were first released. There is a nice drop-in Hipshot set available for those that are great. They have sold multiple thousands of those basses. I gotta believe Fender has fixed the problem by now.

Got flu, updated Covid, and RSV shots several weeks ago. But I have had an on and off runny nose and cough for awhile now. My wife is convinced I have pneumonia. I doubt it, but I am trying to see a doc this week.

Gotta stop it from both sides.

It's the Thunderbird Club thread so there's going to be a lot of favoritism for them here and that's just how it is. There's a club here for folks that like Jazz basses too, I don't post my Thunderbirds there or tell folks that in my opinion a T Bird is better because being a Troll isn't tolerated. The same applies here, tho there are plenty of FSO's posted (I'm fine with it because I think everyone should love what they play, regardless of brand) , but, here on this thread we can be overt in our affection of what often is a much maligned bass without being apologetic. I would keep in mind that Chuck's comment was pretty tongue-in-cheek.

Yes, as was mine. As a reminder, I owned one of the few '63 II's produced that year (bought used in 1974) so it's unlikely I have anything against T-birds or those like me who own/play them. And FTR, I kinda' take offense at being considered a troll, even peripherally by your definition - not cool.

Yikes! I'm glad Beth is OK.

LOL - love my birds!
Full disclosure - I’m just starting a Tbird build that will feature two Jazz (actually dual Bartolini in line coils in Jazz enclosures) pickups where they can really shine along with a DiMarzio One pickup at the neck all tied into a two band active preamp. Should be another screamer with enough grit and growl to peel wall paper off the walls, that is IF the walls are still standing when the DiMarzo is kicked in. In any case it’ll be another reimagining of one of the finest basses ever built - the Reverse Tbird. Stay tuned.

You may take the comment that way (not my intent), if you want to. It's a Talkbass term and I'm certain you know that I used it in that context .

I really don't require schooling on on-line terms and I'll assume that you used it out of context to who you were addressing.

As do I. I toss chips at J basses. But only here among friends who know me well and know I’m just being obnoxious. Maybe someday I’ll find one that speaks to me. You you love yours, and I get it. I have an el cheapo MIM P bass (LPB of course) that I love. And I adore my Peavy Foundation with the Super Ferrites.
