But it’s gold!!!!!
$2000? Never happen unless it’s some poor ex dumping her husband’s gear to spite him.I have the Gold Anniversary bird and it’s my best playing Gibson Tbird. Nice and light, quick neck and buttery smooth sound. Love it! It was my first official Tbird purchase and I paid about $1000 for it back around 2016. The darn things are listing for three and four times that now. Glad I got one when I did, hard to justify at that price today - nearly the same cost as a Bicentennial or a Lull or even a bargain basement refin kinda stock 1960’s NR (referring to that baby blue one that’s been on Reverb forever). If you can find a Gold Anniversary bird for anything near $2000 just jump on it, you won’t be disappointed.
The Tbird+ pickups in my ‘05 Studio are great! But if I had a shot to get a red Sixx, I’d be all over that one.Well, I didn't stumble across any Gibson Thunderbirds in Las Vegas, but there are a few in the Beehive State to look at when I get back next week. A 2005 Studio, 2013 Anniversary, and a red Nikki Sixx. I'm interested in the gold Anniversary if I can get it for the right price.
They’re out there but not cheap.Th

Now you've done it. There goes the mystery.Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that gold anniversary Thunderbird is functionally the same as any other from 2013.
That’s why I don’t have one. They’re out there but not cheap.
Yep, exactly the same. Maybe I'll refinish the pixie dust bass gold.Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that gold anniversary Thunderbird is functionally the same as any other from 2013.
There was a story about a $65 Corvette floating around a while back. The ex was selling the car and had to split the proceeds. $65. Not $6500 or $65,000. Not even $650. If the story was true, somebody got quite a bargain, all on account of spitefulness.$2000? Never happen unless it’s some poor ex dumping her husband’s gear to spite him.
I need a '64 Tbird for $64.00 .There was a story about a $65 Corvette floating around a while back. The ex was selling the car and had to split the proceeds. $65. Not $6500 or $65,000. Not even $650. If the story was true, somebody got quite a bargain, all on account of spitefulness.
I've seen others in gold, but with an ebony board, from Gibson Custom Shop. They're not giving them away either. But it’s gold!!!!!
I think you are correct. The value lies in the limited run and gold finish, which is actually quite unique and would be an absolute bear to attempt a finish repair on.Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that gold anniversary Thunderbird is functionally the same as any other from 2013.
I’d consider $2300 near $2000 and I’ve seen a couple sell for that in the last year. Initial asking prices for those were in the $2800 range IIRC, which indicates the market is relatively weak on them in spite of so many listed in the $3000 and up price range.$2000? Never happen unless it’s some poor ex dumping her husband’s gear to spite him.
Speaking of which, I just saw an $85,000 listing for an "only known" Pelham Blue 1964 Gibson Thunderbird. The listing shows as "ended". I'm guessing it didn't sell.I need a '64 Tbird for $64.00 .
(Bass? Boat? Plane? Sure!)
Sweet! Not been around for awhile.. Picked up my Bicentennial a little brother a couple weeks back!

Wait till y'all see my new '64 Pelham Blue Thunberbird. Got it for a song. Only $78,000.Speaking of which, I just saw an $85,000 listing for an "only known" Pelham Blue 1964 Gibson Thunderbird. The listing shows as "ended". I'm guessing it didn't sell.
Nearly all the 1964 birds are asking 14k and up. I'm convinced they're all just feeding off each other and none of those are selling.
Saw that one. How does it sound with it’s “exquisitely crafted nut from unicorn horn?”Wait till y'all see my new '64 Pelham Blue Thunberbird. Got it for a song. Only $78,000.
