Thunderbird Club

It’s not a Gibson, but it’s mine and I’ve wanted one for quite a while. Got it in a trade from a guy a guy who bought it new and didn’t really like it. I even got to peel the plastic wrap off the pickups and other plastic. Strung with Ernie Ball flats and it’s just killer with those!

Nice! I have a 2017 in arctic white. I wasn’t super impressed with mine u til I threw a set of the TI “Power Bass” roundwound strings on it:

They’re not cheap, but they feel fantastic and really made that $350 dollar bass feel and sound more like one of my more expensive Gibsons.

Replying to my own thread to probably ask an obscene question(s):

I haven’t looked at any schematics or even looked inside yet, but are these only wired series? Is it possible to wire them with a series/parallel switch per pickup?
The pickups leads are just hot and shield, so you can't do series/parallel per pickup (or coil tap). The wiring is VVT just like a jazz bass. You could add a switch to run the 2 pickups series/parallel.

The pickups are two wires, so no. Sorry.

One of the few TI strings I have not tried.

With the spare time I had from all the snow I was wondering about good control loop technologies just the other day.

*I have no clue what that even means. Even if I knew what it meant I'm pretty sure I wouldn't know what it means.

But what's the deal with "coconut water"? Please reassure us you had coffee. :smug:

Coffee made with coconut water. :help::vomit:

Wow amazing! Would so love to see and hear this!
Tay,
If all goes right I’ll be able to post some sound clips. Photos are guaranteed, and plenty of them.
Thinking high gloss piano black body with a black block and bound maple/maple neck and black hardware.
Settled on Bartolini split in line single coil Jazz type pickups mated to an Aguilar OBP2 preamp. Could use a Warwick bridge and hard tail or a Hipshot bridge, along with ultra light tuners. Should be a fun build and unique sound.
