Thunderbird Club

Had no idea any other human had heard of The Alarm lol, loved that band. U2 stole all the oxygen out of their room i'm afraid.....
OMG The Alarm is my 80s band! Absolutely love them. Our wedding song was Walk Forever By My Side ♥️ Cath and I saw The Alarm in '87 at the University of Rochester. Man they wrote great lyrics. " to build the ships, to set the sails, to cross the sea of fools" daum 😲😎

I remember them being something like the first live concert on mtv or something, may have been that Rochester show
* something to do with first satellite broadcast... anyway, great band.

I think they did a big outdoor show at some California college in 84 or 85 that was on MTV " I will never give in until the day that I die, carve out a future with my two bare hands is" going to be my epitaph.

Did I quick Zeppelin listening sessions as I tried to make sure of the bass sounds of the several tracks and again noticed how great sounds there are. "Out On The Tiles" for example: a clean DI-signal in the middle and a raunchy cab sound spread out to the other side (facing Page's guitar). Or "Four Sticks": Telecaster with a pick through the Acoustic for the riff part and Jazz Bass with fingers most likely DI'd for the other section.

I also noticed how many songs had him playing with a pick. Not that it was surprising to me but I recently got told off when I commented on some instagram Jones post how it was not strange (to me) to see him with a pick and also mentioned that I'd say he used pick about half of the tunes they did (just a rough estimation). I was told "I was not informed" and Jones came from "old school" and used mostly fingers. I could mention quite a lot "old school" pick players (especially from the session world to which Jones belonged to also) but left it at that.

The idea that pick bass is a newfangled phenomenon is an absolute joke. People are weird about it though. I try not to waste time arguing with them.

I doubt we'll have any other video from this show, we had a great time......
I had Frank shot this from my side of the stage because as we all know the bassist usually gets cut out of band videos.

First song.

As a lifelong JPJ fan, I'd reinforce your half estimation
He was also one of the first to use a 5, 6, 8, and active bass while recording

Apparently your conversationalist friend thought he used an upright for everything....

Pretty much the same experience here with multiple bass purchases from Japan. All the sellers I’ve dealt with have been top notch on communication frequency, updates, packing and accurately describing their products. The pictures I posted were from the seller as a special unrequested email after the purchase letting me know the bass was ready to ship if I was still satisfied with how it looked, who else does that? There’s obviously some translation challenges but not enough to make me even think about steering clear of Japanese purchases. As noted, be prepared for a two to four week delivery though. BTW - I’ve never had an issue or charge from customs either.

Ditto to Andy and the Man! And Donny isn’t yours coming up?
Sure is. Nine more months! You must be thinking of my conception, as I believe the Japanese do. :roflmao: I had one in Dec, so I'm good for a while!
