Thunderbird Club

Not that it would be the first time I've been accused of being backwards, but aren't the regular ones the backwards ones?
The regular ones are called reverse, but they're right way round for a Thunderbird. Makes for fun arguments as not everyone agrees with my correct assessment. :roflmao:

Pelham blue Epi finally made it. She needs a little tlc. Very old strings. Neck volume pot is really stiff. Needs a good wipedown. Otherwise it's super clean, no scuffs, scratches or dings that I can see, doesn't even have buckle rash still has the case candy from 18~ years ago.
Congrats on the new bass!!

Oh, yeah! Matching hat to top it all off! Good taste on all accounts. What are the boots?

My current footwear for today... Old US made Noconas (deertaned, nice and soft). I rescued these. They were badly neglected but look almost new after some proper care. A couple times! Might need resoling sometime this year. Old Noconas (also have an old cream pair of Buffalos), and one old pair of Dan Posts seem to be custom made for me, more so than some more expensive newer brands like Chisos.

And for the record, Thunderbirds sound better if played wearing boots.
+1 on the boots making the bass sound better, something to do with a stage coupling effect I think.
My go to brand is Tony Llama. Wide feet and high instep makes it hard to find a good fit, for some reason the Llamas fit every time and feel broken in from the get go. Love the looks of some of the top end designer brands but just can’t ever seem to get my fat feet in them. I’ve been thinking about having some custom boots made (a new Gibson would be cheaper) but just haven’t got around to it yet. Maybe a pair of these for something way over the top…

I'd say they're both the right way around. If you're playing a T-bird you're doing it the right way after all.

Congrats on the new bass!!
Thanks!

You might be disappointed in my boots, I haven't put on any western wear in decades. I do kinda miss the fire engine red boots I had when I was little though!

Thanks though, I'm really glad I was able to snag this one. When I bought my 2010 CS LE in Alpine White, I had actually been saving up for one of the Pelham Blues, so this one is pretty special to me considering it's what I originally wanted way back then.

I kinda wish Epiphone was more transparent with things like production numbers on the LE birds but alas, we'll probably never know much about these.
Heck, boots are like Tbirds, they come in all flavors. Our Queen has an awesome pic holding a bird while wearing black knee high lace up Dock Johnson style boots. Boots are boots, could be hiking boots or Wellingtons, it’s all good, the more the merrier and bonus points if worn with a bird.

If you can get them to fit your feet they are fantastic boots! They make some of my favorite styles, top notch on quality as well, I just need a fat footectomy to get into them.

Your foot sounds like mine. Yes, Llama's do fit good. The pair I just sold were a half sz too small but EE and I thought they would work. And did for a good while. Just not ideal for much standing or walking. Some boots (Chisos and Tecovas talking to you--both used like new), don't have much arch and if they do it tends to be too far back for me. Old Texas made Noconas and Posts are perfect. I do have some black DP Lizzards that feel good. Those were new but Amazon had a hefty discount them for a day, then when I got them there was a flaw no one would likely see and got even more money off!

I was talking with a guy a few weeks ago who liked what I liked and he said he bought some a number of years ago and has hardly bought anything else since. Told me I should at least buy one pair before I...don't need boots. Said it would be a game changer. But said to but their main line not the two lower level boots, though they are nice. I hope to find some one day, if nothing else just to stick my feet n once!

I used to have a red one of these, came out around the same time - I ended up making a 7enderbird out of it.

Thanks! It's been a long time coming for me but I'm glad I started looking again.

I honestly don't think I'd have been looking if it hadn't been for my conversation with you and others a few weeks ago. I feel like I got really lucky finding one in such good shape.

That's a bit much even for a person with no taste like me. Last time I was in El Paso, I stopped at a Tecovas outlet. They had a pair of really comfortable goatskin boots that were factory seconds. There was a pull at the top of one of the boots that had come undone. I came close to buying them, since they felt great. Only problem is that there was no way to get them home in my luggage. So it goes. My wife would not have been as enthusiastic. I know my limits. Also, I couldn't think of when I would actually wear them much. I wear sneakers off the motorcycle and riding boots on the motorcycle. That's pretty much all the shoes I have. I don't even wear workboots much any more.

You should have bought the goat skins, I have a pair and they are about the softest most comfortable leather you’ll find…

I used to only wear boots onstage, not always comfortable and usually got very sweaty, I'm wearing heels most of the time anymore.
