Thunderbird Club

Anyone have any photos of the back side of their '64 pickup? I forgot to post this the other day. No markings but clearly pretty old given the tarnish. The rub marks are likely when they changed the foam out, which is not particularly new either.

Sooooo not touching mine, love how it sounds and is set up - Sorry!

Reverie, my doomish jam band is back, playing at Nick-A-Nee's in Providence this Friday. We're opening for Hope Anchor, some friends on the scene here who've been kind enough to give us a little boost. This is twice now. It's good to have friends.
We've rehearsed twice since a long hiatus, maybe six months now, and we're going in...
I finally got a bass-forward mix from rehearsal, and I'm really liking the sound of my Classic Pro. Forget my moping about pickups a couple weeks ago, I'm as satisfied as I've been with any bass I've ever owned/played. And it feels great too. Keeping it slung low, playing it slow (I'm getting a little more economical. A little...). Got a few clams to clean up, but now I can hear them! And yeah I'm getting along great with the sound I'm getting... Through a SansAmp jig >Broughton hpf, an Eden WT405 and a couple old 15s stacked under it.
Last night I discovered some chippage along the bottom edge of my headstock, but I do "bump" into a cymbal from time to time. 😏
The old girl's got her some scars since she's come into my life. But she knows I love her.

A Thunderbird with no scars hasn't lived well.

We go round and round about pickups here because most of us are Tbird nerds. But I like the Tbird+ pickups a lot. They roar with stainless rounds.

Found out from using the EB nylon strap that came with the Rescue Bird that I like a little longer strap for NRs. Maybe Reverses as well. Ordered an extender for my Levy's strap is use with all the Thunderbirds. My current strap was maxed out and I never thought much of it, but after the EB strap I really like it being about 2" longer.
For the time being GHS Round Core Boomers seem to sound the best on the old NR so far. Better pickups will make it sound crazy good.
What length is it you're after?

I just lowered mine about a couple inches, it's really low now. I started wearing it low because my left shoulder has a range issue where there's a sudden, sharp pain when I raise my arm, and everything has to stop while I get it together. It's really painful and has become more than a nuisance. Wearing the bass low is my answer, so far.
Yesterday I saw I had another hole in the strap to use, and tried it. It's working. I think it's hilarious. I also think it's now as low as I can actually play it, lol.
The Dunlop I LOve Dust series straps extend to 65", which is pretty low for me. I wouldn't mind if they were an inch or two longer, but what I have is quite workable.
ahem

My CP was my fave until I got the Grecos. Now it's back and forth for second place between the CP and the Thunderbucker VP.
