Thunderbird Club

Hey everyone. In my search for pickups for my new thunderbird I may be in a position to buy some nickel Greco pickups. Would anyone go those over say thunderbucker 66'? And would I need to do any routing for the Greco pups?

Either way I will probably get both and put one of the sets in my jazz bass mwuahaha

Cheers.

Oh and best bass gear rock. They sent me the three correct nickel tuners I needed the day I notified them of the mistake

Nice to see you're over at Last Bass Outpost

I like your set list. We do quite a few in common.
I notice you do Be My Girl by Jett (we also do that one). Was that song a success in the States?
Also, no Pink? We find Funhouse, So What, and U & UR Hand always go down well. We also do Who Knew as a quieter one.
Have thought about any Divinyls songs, we do a couple as a tribute to Chrissy- Boys in Town, Pleasure and Pain, I'll Make You Happy and I Touch Myself, which had a bit of a revival here recently.

Had a great Halloween gig last year- nothing booked this year.

Here's a clip of us doing Boys In Town- the young guitarist with the long hair is my son- hand held recording. Sorry- I was using my old 73 P Bass.

Hey Tbird, Between your greco, the Burny & "stock" post 88 gibson birds, have you found any cons for them and how different do they sound from eachother?

The Burny has pretty tame pups, a big con - at some point soon I'll replace them with something I pot into the covers. The Greco is everything Gaffster says, very growly and aggressive tone, mine has an old set of Roto '66s
and it's still has "that" tone. A long time friend from Bass Out Post put me onto them, mine was about $650.00 - well worth it! My Post '88s are now all redone with Lull Pickups, they are replicas of '63 Gibsons so they are pretty clear, not overdriven I like them thru my GK rig a lot.

to follow up on my earlier post. My drummer showed me a pic of the project T-Bird that he was stripping the finish off of, and it does look like the flat black was painted over a burst finish. Unfortunately his computer is jacked right now so he as not been able to email me the picture. He will be taking more pics during the process and I will get copies to share.

Strange... They must have had a surplus of sunburst ones made when they did your goth... On the other hand, that would explain why the layer of paint on the Goth is so thick.

Not familiar with that brand. Is that a budget brand in Europe?

Harley Benton is one of Thomann's own brands...

Decent Asian made with usually cheap hardware and electronics - However they're cheap and can easily be upgraded...

I've been considering this one for quite a while:

Looks really nice and sounds pretty good as well, judging from YT videos in another TB thread...
