Thunderbird Club

Downloaded that one, the WD800, D800+ and the Walkabout.
I'm seeing a lot about the Bergantino stuff too, he's local.
And Genz-Benz (Genzler), and the Trace TE1200- I kinda wish Trace made more *mid-powered* head. I guess I could look a generation back, when Peavey made those mucous-green revamps. Lol. Gawd those are pretty ugly. 😂

500 class A/B watts with a great blend control of the onboard overdrive, no low end loss.

I’m currently selling mine, in mint, essentially brand new condition. Even has the original packing and shipping boxes from Orange.

Plugged into the 8 ohm 115 it’s sitting on, even at 250 watts it gets LOUD.

Mine is a GP7-SM, I think. For what I do, it's perfect, you don't have to turn it up to get good tone out of it which makes FOH guys happy and I can still enjoy it on stage as well. I think it's voicing is the best of any of my four amps and with the SWR it's just perfect for what we do. I'm not a flashy player, don't use effects, just do the thing. It's simple, reasonably robust, not difficult to move (not a 1 trip deal tho) and at 1K total for both the amp and cab, it's easily the best $$$ I've ever spent on amplification.

Love my rig!

when's that pic from?

The Master at work!

Looks a little like an ABM inside. A little.

If I recall correctly, some of the Trace Elliott people went to Ashdown - Chuck knows the story. I'm kind of keeping an eye out for another Trace, a different model that the one I have, need to do a little looking into their various models. Anybody need a low mileage GK 700 RB II?

Ashdown was founded by my friend Mark Gooday, Trace Elliott chief engineer/marketing director....

How cool! You know everyone :) Brilliant amplifiers, I love mine!
I played through a Trace once, but don't recall anything about it. Played through a Trace 215 cab and loved how it sounded. Thought about buying it but I didn't need a 215. Later ended up with the Ampeg Heritage 410 which is likely no smaller when you add up all the dimensions.
I know I love my Ashdown ABM. I could live with it being my main head but I love my tubes too much. IIRC Chuck (or somebody?) said the older Trace are warmer (more like Ahsdown) and the newer Traces are brighter. If true I would love the older amps. (If that's wrong, somebody please correct.)

Yeah, that. I've been doing it for decades, so it works for me. I guess YMMV.
I might do it a bit like that. One of the reasons I like covers is that it gives a rough guide to making sure adjacent strings get played about the same distance from the bridge. I figured out that thinner strings were quieter because I was playing them in a different spot than the E and A strings.

not me Donnie, my experience is with their (Trace) early stuff....great amps, somewhat unreliable unfortunately...interesting you mention the 2X15 box as those came later...Trace's original claim to fame was going back to 10" drivers when many (most) were favoring 15's, lots of headroom, graphic EQ and that green (some models employing a backlight) brand look. I gigged a 250W 4X10 combo for about a year until the preamp started acting wonky...

Short scale frankenbird (formerly a 4 string) has sprouted a high B string - easily adjusted to C if desired but I prefer B for (familiar) pretty chords. Lightweight tuners replacing the original Ibanez TMB heavies means the bass is still under 9 lbs and still balances perfectly! Sounds killer with the Alembic pickups and electronics

These would also be a ton of fun.

sweetest dude who knows what bass players want...don't know if I mentioned it but More Music was an approved Ashdown distributor for awhile so we got to play with all kinds of goodies and they gave us excellent support, fun company with very competent chill folks..
