My technological limit is synchromesh on all forward gears. Although if you don't have synchros, that can be a lot of fun if you know how to double clutch.
Back in my 18 wheeling days, I'd let out the clutch in whatever gear I started in(usually 2nd), then shifted the rest with my left foot flat on the floor. Upshifting anyway.

why they call it the Golden State....

That’s a “No Go” in my book. Any V8 over 250 hp in a sport or muscle car better be a stick, preferably on the floor.
The only thing I want an automatic in is a low torque 4 or 6 (so I’m not constantly rowing thru gears in heavy traffic) or an off road or towing vehicle.

Clutchless shifting is an art form, especially on motorcycles.
You guys are making me pine for a stick. I’ve only owned three standard Trans cars. My Volvo 544, My Volvo 240, and my Dodge Colt.

I am digging my Suble Crosstrek; I wish it was a manual. It has the paddles which are nice for having a little more control in snow.

We've only owned three automatics. A Windstar (when you couldn't get a manual van with cruise control), and two Mazda 3s, both bought when I had to get something fast and nothing I wanted with a manual was available (flooding/Fukishima, Covid). I really miss driving a manual. My wife still has a manual.

On the other hand, driving in Bay Area traffic with a 3,000# pressure plate isn't a joy. But it was blue.

Ha! I’d take it!
I’d be more concerned about the missing bonnet.
