Thunderbird Club

After 3 long month it finally arrived today:

Forgive me the Fender cable. When I leave the bass' tone on it hisses quite loud. Guess that's the tubes, right? No problem for me though as I use tone at 3 maximum.

Overall it sounds perfect for me.
?Hmmm, I know not of any hiss at all, and I have the same exact head (Fusion 550), I absolutly Love it. ... Unless of course you're speaking of something else that's causing the hiss; if that's that case then, "my bad"

Alright, it has been a little while - did the Katbird get to Sydney yet? And if it did, where are the pictures?

On its way.

@godofthunder59 is the man to ask. Afaik Scott doesn't use bridge pups at all.
I in fact do like single single pick up birds best, but I wouldn't kick a two pickup Tbird out of bed. Not to say that I don't have a fair amount of two , three, or even four pickup basses. For me the bridge pickup just gets in the way of my playing style so I crank them down as low as they can go and shut them off. One of the few exceptions is a Gibson EB3, the bridge pickup is a necessity!

I went over to the Ric club to try to learn about that 4003SW. What a worthless *<expletive deleted>*!!!
I found One Word Johnny. The only time he offered more than one word, was when we were off-topic. Not a lot in the way of help going' on over there.
It seemed like they gave you good information about that bass. I read it. :rollno: What else do you need to know? I have a 4003 jetglo and have played the 4003w but not the 4003sw

I don't get it, I love bridge pickups. But a good old angry p bass grind is good too.

But my birds aren't "real", just the epi+ bolt on pickups. I actually like the bridge more if I am going to use just one, it is a tad " ray" ish. Sometimes I use the neck only, but most of the time it is either bridge full neck 8, vice versa, or both up for the scoop.

I could see just using the neck, but not for the band I use them in.

I should add that my main #1 for many years was a jazz, and it applies to the foundation I got last year big time, gotta have that bridge pickup in the mix.

I ordered a modern vintage Gibson strap that came in yesterday and some dunlop strap locks will be here tomorrow. Can't wait to get it all set up. Anyone try one of these with their bird?

I haven't used that Gibson strap but I have bought 4 Gibson Slingshots and they are great! Lots of comfort, lots of length, grippy enough and the price isn't crazy if you order it from Amazon.

I was surprised when he busted out the NR on the r40 tour. Usually Alex changes guitars almost every song and geddy has just a handful of jazz basses. The R40 tour was like he went on a bass binge and had to justify to his wife that he actually plays all of them :) I had video of almost the whole tour closer but that phone got stolen :banghead::mad::poop::rage:

Despite the pixels you think you can see, geddy did rock those, at least the NR on the 2015 tour. He even played a p bass and some custom jobbies I had no idea what they were.

He sounded like geddy Lee on every one ;)
WHOA!!! COOL!!! I stand corrected!

Since it was cool enough for geddy, I guess you will be getting one now:)

If you lived closer you could have my 2015 sunburst epi for cheap... Just needs a few of the frets filed down a bit up high. If I don't get a buyer soon I might just keep it and try to borrow some files. Gas for a specific peavey has it on the block.

With the action high like I like it for drop C, I don't even need to do fret work, and I don't need to go that high on the neck in the band I was using it in, but to get a low action in standard, some high frets need to be "dealt wit" :)

Yes... I woke up to find much better info on their page today. I guess you guys spoiled me a little bit. I like it over here... where 2-3 people respond within a few minutes, and more continue to chime in as time rolls on... and with the exception of the occasional quip... the information is all GOLD! Didn't quite work out that way over there...

I know Satori, just went a little funny in the head there, still though, i'd bet it would sound great in it's own right.
If you are feeling a little funny in the head, might I recommend a paracetamol or two and a nice cup of camomile tea?

I jump straight to suggesting lithium or Thorazine...
