Look at you, smiling in Two pictures!

Saw this nice Jag the other day, which prompted Frank into his best Jeremy Clarkson voice "'cause I drive a Jag!"

Know what you mean. This is the only pic from Leon with a white NR. But it's an odd one. Custom or highly modded. If I ever heard what it was, I don't recall. Dig the inlays. (Gibson.... anyone at Gibson.... Anyone....?)

Leon's roadie or bass techs might know -if any of them are still alive. Ed King might have known, but he's been gone seven years. 8^(

Is this one of the good Epi Birds? Seems like a good price, but I have to admit that I don't really understand the differences between all the various Epi Birds.
These are fine Thunderbirds. The pickups sound like the modern Gibson reverse Thunderbird pickups, somewhat dark. So all the bass you could want, but not as much top end as some players like. Mine was my favorite for a long time and I still play it.

That’s a great price with a case. Buy it. Seven ply versus Gibson nine ply neck through. Those are real USA modern Tbird Plus pickups (SIT Powersteels pair really well with them to make it sing). A slim 1.5 nut neck that is similar to a modern Gibson with a hint more roundness that is barely noticeable . Poly versus Nitro finish. Slightly different body shape than a Gibson that is noticeable to only those with a trained eye. The tuners are copies of Gotohs. Not as smooth, but serviceable.

I picked up one a couple weeks ago for $200, no case, that only needs a new pickguard, a TR cover, and a bit of finish polishing that I’m working on. It’s super light, the neck is razor straight, and the intonation is spot on. It isn’t a Gibson. But it’s a darn good copy of one, perfectly playable and very nice in its own right.

Bit early, innit?

Happy birthday, @Engle !
Thanks guys! It is actually tomorrow. When I set up my Facebook account, I was concerned about identity theft/privacy so I put in my birthday as the 17th. So now I have a 2 day birthday :)
