I’ve kind of assumed, maybe incorrectly, that a Vintage Reissue is essentially an under-wound untapped DeCola in a chrome cover.

I haven't taken apart a Gibson Vintage reissue PU, but assume it has blade magnets while the DeCola has separate round magnets.

My first 'real' bass amp was a '63 Bassman piggyback(~45W>2x12). It gave me the tone I want(ed). I've had other rigs: SVT/810, the Kasino(200W>2x15), Ampeg 112 comb, , P______MAX110. None gave me the 7enderish tone I prefer. That's why I now have/use 7ender Rumbles.[also the fact they're light]

I was playing through a Rumble 40 at a jam the other day. It sounded great with my Ripper. There may have been a pedal involved - have to ask. I just plugged in and played.

All this amp and cab talk is interesting. Seems that Tbirds work just as well with SS as they do Hybrid or Valve heads and 10’s 12’s and 15’s also seem to be very common here. I’m currently running SS and reverse Hybrid heads or combos thru 10’s and 12’s and valves thru an 18”. Still looking for a vintage 15” cab for my reverse Hybrid (SS pre with Tube power section) amp.
I did just purchase a late 1980’s AMP BH420 (precursor to the Gibson GB440, which was the precursor to my Thunderfunk TFB420). Fantastic amp design which also influenced some of the Mesa and Eden amp designs IIRC.
Should be here in a couple of days. I might pass it on to @Chucky Stiletti for a while to have him run it thru its paces and go over the guts for a total refresh.

I've been using my Les Paul Tribute for recording reggae/pop stuff and it's perfect with Chromes.
