It’s Three’s for Thursday…
These four basses sound about as different as you can possibly imagine. Left to right…
Active Aguilar two band Goth with DiMarzo One added in the Mudbucker position - deep dark and creamy. Controls are vol (push pull active passive, pan (neck to 4way switch output), bass treb stack (boost/cut 15db), 4way selector (middle, bridge, mid+bridge series, mid+bridge parallel).
Passive Dingwall DBird - hifi, crisp cut through the mix monster with strong mid focus. Controls are Volume, Tone, 4way selector (bridge, bridge+mid series, all three in series, neck).
Passive 1991 Gibson Tbird - one of only several made - punchy as heck with LaBella Gold flats. Controls are Volume, Volume, Tone (neck), Tone (mid+bridge), three way selector (neck, mid+bridge, bridge).
Passive North BlingBird - three ChinaBuckers each with its own discreet volume and tone stack and tone cap - a tone monster. Controls are neck Volume/Tone, mid Volume/Tone, bridge Volume/Tone.

As much as I'm lusting over the Thunderbirds, that Ampeg is screaming out from behind the basses.
You should hear that silver Goth Mudbucker thru the Ampeg B-18n. That 18” speaker and higher wattage of the B-15n’s big brother is the voice of God.
For anyone cruising up 80 by the Carquinez bridge. We’re the opener, 7:30 sharp start time.

A mudbucker or Dimarzio Model One in that location tends to have a god-like voice. Played through an ACC 360, which is also an 18, it would probably cause some repentance.

Our drummer/lead vox is also a graphic designer, with lots of work in the live comedy arena.

Was someone looking for an Epi Goth? I see one local for $400 including the Epi angular case, and small Prometean combo amp with Ibanez PD7 overdrive pedal. The latter two could be sold for maybe $100 and net $300 for the Goth and case.
I have three already, don’t need any more. But if someone else here buys it they should consider doing a $10 cap job on it. It’s a game changer for the Goth. Easily in the top tier of my Tbird flock when it comes to sound.
The Goth seems to have the same pickups as the E1, is there a reason to do the cap change on the Goth vs the E1?

I don’t have any E1 basses. The pickups look the same but I don’t know if they’re wound the same. The Goth pickups are fairly hot and overwound. If the E1 pups are the same then the Cap job should be equally effective on them.
I'm having a great deal of difficulty finding a legit 1955 Thunderbird and 1955 Ampecg B-15 or B-18.

Some Hollow body Honeys at The Bass Shop today, I like them all!
