A call to the NorCal collective ‘Bird owners.
Chuck and I cannot sync a schedule to do a side by side “bicentennial” sidewinder comparison with the NINE ONE SIX reproduction prototypes.

Anyone within about an hour and a half from Modesto have a sidewinder loaded bird willing to meetup with me and my Bird?
And just spend a little time comparing?
And maybe lay down a sample or 2?

I’ll do the drive. Beer, or other dalliances on me!

Jammed with some friends tonight for the first time in ages. Took the Cataldo (strung with SIT Power Steels) and was plugged in to a Fender Rumble 100 and they sounded really good together. I was honestly surprised by the Rumble because I had played one in this same facility right before Covid shut things down and it sounded terrible. What I heard tonight is what I imagine Miles and Mike (and anyone else out that raved about these) like about these amps. Anyhow, Thunderbird!!

Well, the LECS Tobbaco Burst arrived today, along with the White LECS. The white one was intended for mods and refin and was dirt cheap, a bit beat up but not as bad as I anticipated. The burst turns out to be perfectly legit and in mint condition. Never seen a Tobbaco burst before, but it has beautiful grain and sounds wonderful, it’ll stay dead stock.

That is one gorgeous Thunderbird, and I don't normally get excited by black birds. Being a Cataldo, I know it sounds and plays even better than it looks.
Mike and a couple other people here steered me toward the Rumble. I haven't regretted it. I will note that had Orange made the Deep Purple amp in 100 watts, I'd probably have bought it instead, just because. I do wish the Rumble had been available in purple. But few instruments or amps are.

That is one gorgeous Thunderbird, and I don't normally get excited by black birds. Being a Cataldo, I know it sounds and plays even better than it looks.

Played our first gig since 5/24/25 last night. Also first time I'd held a bass since 5/24/25(I don't practice). Went pretty well considering the almost total lack of calluses. Also first time singing since 5/24. Missed a coupla notes here and there. May have a gig next Friday night. Might get cancelled(it's the 'off' season here-snowbirds gone).
Using my Epi Embassy(SIT Power Flats) for gigs these days. T-Bird needs some professional work which I can't justify spending $ on for the lack of gigs [and lack of $].

I don’t have any E1 basses. The pickups look the same but I don’t know if they’re wound the same. The Goth pickups are fairly hot and overwound. If the E1 pups are the same then the Cap job should be equally effective on them.

They sound the same to me.

I am casually looking for one circa ‘14 or thereabouts with the 1.5 neck to potentially swap into my virtually brand new ‘10. The ones with the skinny neck are pretty rare.

If you’re planning on going down to Palm Desert, I can arrange to host you at my Pine Mountain house, about 20 minutes west of the Frazier Park exit at the top of the grapevine. You could crash there overnight and head to the desert the next day if you wanted…SVT and Berg NV610 live there.

Excellent! Given the kinds of music you can play (and play very well), I'm certain your no practice is way better than my practiced playing.

A Palm desert visit is likely soon, that may work. I’ll loop you in on schedule.
I know the area a bit , family had a place in Frazier Park.
