Thunderbird Club

This hit pretty hard for me. Ace was the reason I first picked up a guitar.

Yeah .... I was in the eight grade when Destroyer came out and I remember friends of mine who had their posters on the bedroom walls. Then In the fall of October 1976 of my freshman year , one of those buddies gave me a heads up that Kiss was going to be on the Paul Lynde's Halloween Special. Watched it on rabbit ear TV, back before VHS and TIVO-

I only got to see them once, back in '75 at the Paramount. They were on their way up and really put on a great, very energetic show, I had started playing the bass about two years before, seeing them just made me want to be in a band and be that outrageous even more - I think that they had some effect on me. There were these upstarts from Canada called Rush that opened for them that night, "Caress of Steel" tour..........

Loved “Rock n Roll All Night” of course, like all the guys my age. Got right into the first few albums and Alive. Destroyer when it came out was well named, it Destroyed.

Bought a temporary bass guitar from a local music shop primarily because it was shaped kinda like Gene’s ?Grabber?* on the Alive album cover (and was a bass) but with a square Gibson style 2a side head.

Only saw them the once, about 10 years ago and after Ace had left.

Edit: * did he have a Ripper? Maybe the EB0?
Maybe the Japanese coy just went with “the vibe” rather than exact shape???
Or maybe it’s because I haven’t seen it for 45 odd years…

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oye, oye, oye. Hold my pint. Never order a half pint.
Yes, correct.

On our local measurements and brews, in NSW we mainly use Schooners & Middies. I once saw a shout in progress where the order was Schooners. Some cheaparse ordered Middies when it was his turn to shout, handed them around to everybody and then he got to one bloke who held his hand out at schooner size and let the middie drop right through and crash to the ground. “I don’t drink middies”.
True story, although yes quite a while ago now.

Sorry to hear that. It's weird and then not weird the connection we have with musical influences. Does feel like a old friend dies.
I liked a few of their songs, but there's no denying they were a force of nature in the 70s like few others ever have been. Without question one of the bands of real historical significance. They could still fill an arena. Only a tiny few can say that.

Seems I recall GS once saying they were a band for a while and going nowhere and then decided to put on all the makeup and wardrobe and they took off.

When I was around 11 years old, I got sent home from a sleep over at friends house for making fun of KISS. My freind was a huge fan and asked his mom to ask me to leave, after ragging on the make up etc.

I was into AC/DC at time and KISS was for “kids” in my mind.
I was at an ELP concert when they announced the next concert was Kiss. You can imagine the reaction.

A decent price for a Goth w/HSC. Bass has a few nicks but satin black is easy to repair/touch-up. Goth's used to be had for less than their asking price but prices these days have risen, some by a lot.

Ahem
yeah sorry Dude.....never a huge fan but seeing those incredibly beautifully shaped (Vs, Explorers, Les Pauls, Icemans) solidbodies and seeing Paul Stanley destroy Marauders at the end got me hooked hard.....Frehley's three pup Paul looked like candy......one day, all a memory.....oh well...
Kiss Alive was a staple cruising Ocean Avenue in our little town. One buddy, in a green Pinto wagon no less, played it on his 8 track continuously.
