Not that I have any interest in a bright red bass of any style, but, I wonder what a realistic price is for a, what I assume is a rare color, 2018 Gibson ‘bird, including consideration that it’s owned by someone that someone might be a fan of.
They liquidated them at $1799.00. My “girlfriend” Nikki has one and has toured with it extensively. IMO, paying anything above $2500 is a joke. That guy has quite the ego. I wouldn’t offer more than $1799.00 for his. I don’t care who he is or who he played with. I’d pay a premium for Nikki’s though.
I could see this custom B C Rich Thunderbird he used to own selling for a higher price. A custom, rare model bass, built for an artist, actually used in a video would have more value to most fans, but nowhere near this high of a price. This seller has clearly overpriced this one by a large margin.
Pardon Our Interruption...
Couldn't see paying that much either - for any guitar or bass. The only bass or guitar I might spend a third of that on would be a flame top Hamer USA explorer bass or guitar- Or perhaps a Warwick Stryker with a blonde maple top-

Either you were born in ‘81 or you’re a WWII munitions buff. Thanks! Anybody guessing the origins of that songtitle get a 95% discount when buying the album from Bandcamp. Hopefully that didn't sound like a threat!![]()
Wrong on both accounts. Born in 1981 feels better than 1975, I admit that...Either you were born in ‘81 or you’re a WWII munitions buff.
No. I just meant the price is approaching reasonable. The list of basses I’d buy at this point is short, especially pricey ones.So you did it? Right on!
Yeah, def not reasonable yet. IMO.It’s still too much imo, even after the big price drop.
The red is nice though
They're really pushing it with those two basses that used to belong to Kelly Nickels, the BC Rich is very cool but they did make a few of those, I've seen at least two others out in the wild. The red Bird was a Gibson stock color for a short while so I think you could find one with a little looking - There's a 3 pickup red one on Reverb right now for a lot less money.
There's been a couple times that I had the money and spent it on a bass, my Lull for one, and more recently the '64. I realize as I get older that music has been such an important part of my life that owning an instrument of some significance is worth doing and having - I'm only on this dust ball for a short time, might as well enjoy it while I can!

1965 for Reverse and 1969 for a NR.If I could sell a bunch of basses and gear that I like less than other gear, and raise enough to get a ‘64 - ‘66 IV (right, the only years they made Thunderbirds in the ‘60’s?), I would do that.
I am however, fortunate enough to be in a state of liking everything I have bass/amp/cabinet wise, but quite a bit of it gets used rarely if ever. But, not a bad place to be. But reducing my stock to five or six truly vintage basses and just the amps/cabinets I actually use would be nice.
I doubt I’d pay a bunch of thousands extra to buy one from Geddy Lee for example, as cool (to me) as it would be to say I owned and purchased one from him.
Now, if I won the lottery….
A lot less than he is asking. Not that I have any interest in a bright red bass of any style, but, I wonder what a realistic price is for a, what I assume is a rare color, 2018 Gibson ‘bird, including consideration that it’s owned by someone that someone might be a fan of.

Very little tempts me beyond an original reverse right now but ... what do you reckon that three pickup is worth? They're really pushing it with those two basses that used to belong to Kelly Nickels, the BC Rich is very cool but they did make a few of those, I've seen at least two others out in the wild.
