Went by the post office by the airport. UPS World Port section is next to the PO.
You can see, some of their McDonnell Douglass MD-11's lined up and grounded after the crash here last Tues.

There is a massive UPS maintenance hanger out of the short to the right. They could pull no telling how many of their 747s in there.

those L-1011s....any more on what may have happened? did you hear it?

That's nice ! I have family from there !
I absolutely hate truffles, but I just hate all type of mushrooms in general :')
If they like very fat donuts, they should try the Boneshaker Doughnuts at 86 Rue d'Aboukir, 75002 Paris, they're my favorite !
Also, even though it's very touristic, the tea spot 'Le loir dans la théière " is very nice at 3 Rue des Rosiers, 75004 Paris !
Hope they'll enjoy their stay there ;)
wasn't a big truffle guy till recently....

SO glad you're ok!

Turkey also grounded their C130s after one crashed while traversing (European) Georgia, killing 20 military personnel.

Left engine detached while going down the runway, reason not yet released. That caused it to roll but was on fire at that point. Literally a point of no return for the pilot. Too late in the roll to stop. Some thought another engine failed but I haven't heard that officially and think it speculation. It cleared the fence but could not clear building and began clipping everything think in sight. Ripped a big gash in the first building before continuing through an industrial area.

Thanks. Been on that road where it landed countless times and in the junk yard where several were killed as well. Fortunately it wasn't a passenger plane or landed in a residential/higher populated area.

I heard that. So sad. A number of C130s are based here (Ky Air Nat Guard). May be very different versions here.

shades of 191 and that was a completely different aircraft.....sad stuff..

After the smash I read a bit on the plane (might have been an article attached on TB).
Evidently the engine detaching is a design feature! Idea being you get an engine about to explode OFF the wing/plane.
I guessing this didn’t go 100% to the plan they had when designing this.

L-1011's (TriStars) were Lockheeds.
Built 68-84.
MD-11's were McDonnell-Douglas, built 88-2000. Revamp of the DC-10.
Both had 3 engines but otherwise completely different airframes, 20 years apart.
you are right...from the initial photo I thought it was a Lockheed but they haven't been used for cargo in years.....

Excuse the OT post. But I took a few photos of my NUD.
It’s a Bondi Ukuleles Vintage Mahogany Tenor Resonator Uke with a low G.
It came with a lockable hard case which their cheaper line doesn’t. Also a chromed strap pin (to match the tuning machines), steel strings and a bone nut. Plus a bunch of incidental stuff. No pink fur lining and shroud though, so THUNDERBIRDS best me there. 🤣

A Resonator Ukelele with a heart of chrome?
I dub thee "the T-1000 Ukeinator"!

Looks impressive.

Interesting. If it had happened sooner they likely could have stopped or not gotten airborn. A little later and it may have fallen in generally less populated areas depending on when he started banking. It was exactly at the wrong time.

That's cool! Congrats. I always wanted to play a mandolin but that will never happen.
