I vaguely remember Taco Bell from 10 years or more ago because an ex son-in-law liked it. I remember it as a gooey, salty, out of a can, hard to digest, disgusting mess. This post is as close as I'll ever get to one again. But we do like Taco Time or Del Taco, so go figure

We have Taco Time up here in Seattle, I don't do fast food very often, but theirs is pretty good - Good ingredients, no frantic trips to the Loo!

We (my Generation) didn’t grow up on Mexican or “Mexican” food. It was just something on Us TV shows we got here.

But Sydney had a couple of chains open a store or two in the mid 80s. Taco something and Taco Amigo. They didn’t last long.

But Taco Bell are here now / again. A few spots around the place. We actually have a few home grown chains.
Guzman y Gomez - was really good but I’m hearing quality has dropped since their big expansion. It was my favourite.
Mad Mex - I like this one too.
Zambrero - not bad but I don’t love it. They have a model where they donate a certain amount of your purchase price to charity.

So my almost 38 year old Sony receiver crapped out. It was showing an error code and wouldn’t power off. I disconnected everything and pulled it out of the cabinet only to find it was leaking oily stuff. Not worth messing with.

I don’t need anything real powerful or fancy, just something with a phono input that’ll drive an almost equally old first gen Bose Acoustimass system. Thinking of giving this from the reborn Onkyo a try. Bluetooth and an optical input are bonuses.

I think the two best right now in receivers are Denon and Yamaha. And don't worry too much about a phono input. You can get better sound using an external phono preamp and running it into the receiver's aux input.

I have an Onkyo 7.2 but I had to buy a preamp for my BIC 960 turntable.

I have a BIC 940 in a closet. The automatic changer mechanism is messed up. And I suppose the belt is likely crystalized.

Yeah. There’s a budget Yamaha with decent specs that’ll need a preamp. I do like having an Toslink input though which the Onkyo has.

I’ll look closer at Denton. I really only need a 2 channel stereo though. Even then, I’m seeing them at around $500 for a Denon.

The missing home button threw me for a bit. But I guess once the muscle memory faded it was no longer an issue.

Home button on my Samsung G works great!
