Exactly! That's a great live performance by REO - I was never a fan but knew/heard the song. I was more critical when I was younger but these days even if it's not music I'm drawn to - I really enjoy a good live performance. They were pro musicians in every sense of the word. They all sang (and well!)- especially the lead singer, he was a great singer/performer!

blast from the past!....76 I think, the guys at Sequential used to rave about those......reminds me of this:
We had 2 of these between 75 and 83. Wore one out. Our singing trumpet player doubled on them; sometimes while playing trumpet at the same time(different keys!).

you can't argue the top class musicianship, vocals and live performance....just not funky enough for me
Top class musicians/performers for sure - another band (10cc) I knew of/heard their songs but wasn't into them then ('70s), and a friend treated me to a recent show of theirs. (two original members, and a long-term third member) and two younger hired guns. It was an incredible show! totally pro. When attending a live performance that is THAT good - I become a fan that night because I see/fully understand their talents/professionalism. As an amateur - I have high respect for that level of musicianship.

1975 - young bucks

2024 - check out the Ashdown bass rig - original member bass-player/singer/songwriter Graham Gouldman played the same two basses he played in the '70s - a white Fender and a black Ric. I thought that was so cool. He's the central guitarist in the '75 vid -

Okay that's great. Now I've got Riding the Storm out in my head!
That was probably my favorite song of theirs.
Maybe it was the way our friends' band did it, but even the original version let me down... I know they were a good band. They just got by me.
That song just became kind of trite for me.
