I get that. I actually discussed it with my wife. But with all the rain in SoCal, we ended up with a leak in the roof at our mountain house. I’ll have it patched for now. But it won’t be cheap. We are looking at an extensive addition in a couple years when we sell our main home. And there are some medical expenses I’m dealing with. And I will maintain my CA Bar license, so there’s that.

I’ll be 68 in February. I built a nice collection of various birds and nice amps before I retired last July. I still want an ACC 360. Just because. We planned well for the next twenty or so (knock on wood) years. But a sixties Thunderbird was not included in the plan. So we’ll see. I am fortunate to have the ‘15 and the ‘77 among various others, including the BaCH II that passed through you at some point some years back. And another BaCH II that was Andy’s at one time. I have a beautiful’13 NR, a ‘21 NR, a Gibson shorty, and various LE CS Epis. I’m blessed.

Oh I totally understand! New roof on the house three years ago, helped our son buy a house two years ago mid 2025 Cath needed a new car and few months later my son had his car totaled in a hit an run thankfully he was fine but that cost us as well. Entering 2026 our one bathroom 1910 farm house needs a new bathtub, when we bought the place in 2008 the owners " updated" the tub with bath fitter 🙄 it's failing so we are going to put a cast enamel tub in. I'm not complaining I'm greatfull Cath and I have been frugal and not lived above our means.
I retired at 62 didn't much care for it I found a great gig doing historic millwork restoration, I work 20 hours a week on contract I never see the boss, I'm in a stand alone shop all by myself with a key, I come and go as I please. On top of that I work 4-8 hours a week at the House of Guitars. I'm going out balls to the wall.
Not sure my point in this ramble , ah old age, funny I don't feel old.

So this just happened, 1965 Thunderbird II purchased from GC in Overland Kansas. It of course has the requisite headstock repair but it was the best overall deal I've seen in a while on a reverse II. GC was asking 7k and I got to for 6k with the original case. Thanks to our queen 👸 for the nudge, I mean I was gonna buy it anyhow but it's nice to have a little support and conformation that you're not completely mad. Better pictures to come nothing but the standard GC pics at the moment.

Turns out this bass belongs to our own BassForThePublic ! He sent me a very nice message congratulating me on the bass and is even helping to get it ready by removing the tuners. Small world 🌎

JT gave it to me and I didn't need it for the '66 NR. Maybe something down the road, who knows. He gave me a bunch of parts and I told him I would give back what I didn't need but he said to keep them. But If I don't find a use for it I need to check with him before letting it go. I'll let you know once I think on future plans and ask him again.

Right on! I have to admit I had sore fingers after my gig last Sunday. In my case it was mostly my right hand.
Apparently I was digging in. Mar said she could hear me popping the strings during Hungry like the Wolf.

I take celebrex for arthritis and it really makes a difference in reducing or eliminating the pain in my hands, shoulders and back. Might not be for everybody, so talk to your Dr. first, it’s a prescription only drug.

LOL - does the economy ever have certainty?
It does have historical reference, which indicates over a 300% increase in the DOW in the last 10 years. Strangely, that feels about the same as the increase in the value of a 1960’s Tbird during the same timeline. Maybe I need to invest in more Tbird basses. ;)

We play that pretty late in the set, almost without fail, one, or both of my hands will cramp and I'm kinda just flailing at the strings - Advil before the show (when I remember to take it) helps a lot, especially with the post show pain.

Try Voltaren ointment. Applied directly to the affected area. Get the real stuff; the Costco OTC stuff is half strength.
