This 80s nugget popped into my Facebook feed. I remember seeing this video once on Headbangers Ball back in the day. Looks like the bassist is using a Greco Bird, but hard to be sure.

Yes, typically not the case. I don't know. It did have "the repair" sometime prior to 1981, so who knows.
It's not a Gibson... But I'll buy it from you so you aren't stuck with a Hondo Thunderbird.
Short of going to the terminal and trying to speak someone, there probably isn’t much you can do.
Fixed up the bird today, little more explosion than i thought when drilling for the open type 1/4" output jack, but no matter. With the neck pocket routed lower, the bass no longer needs the pickup or bridge shims to set up properly. However, because this "mahogany" is ratter stupidly brittle, dry, & a pain after all these years, i've decided for late 2026/early 2027, i'll get a new Hard Maple body blank & start from scratch. I may fix up the neck some too, & while i aim to keep the same style, I'll see if i keep the Faux center raised portion on the new blank, or just go completely flat top. Not like it's a real neck through build, & my former TigerBird was completely flat top & back. It was also very oversized compared to this epiphone version (which i did want overall), however this time around, i may only opt to go 1-3% oversized on the body, & while this epiphone will survive until i have the funds to start this project, I'll use the time as a test bed electronic wise (testing tone control, having dual volumes, series/parallel which sound has more use for me overall. This way in the new body, i don't need to think so much, simply focus on the build & get it completed. Also, Brass nut to replace the Bone one - Might not be a full 80's bass because no EMGs, but kinda dig brass, at least for the overall look i'm going for.
Yes. I had a number of a manager here in town I got somehow. She was helpful. When they lost a phone. Then said it was delivered on at 6-7AM on a Sunday. Told them it didn't happen and the camera's on the drive and porch prove that.) May see if I can find that.
Think you're right. Low tension flats. Tho could be GHS Boomers but a heavy gauge.

??...,could be you got an extra set of holes under that TRC...the gold wore off most of the originals....

Nope, I have had the TRC off during setup and there's no evidence of other holes or holes that were filled and then painted over. The gold logo shows signs of being rubbed, but not drastically.
how can you tell of evidence if the holes weee painted over?....does it have a hs repair? not sure that's the original TRC...
As @JIO has mentioned, filled holes will ultimately show through the finish. The scratches and wear on the top of the headstock indicate that if the top was refinished, it wasn’t recent. So, I’d expect to see some evidence of a repair. The same goes for the TRC. It shows signs of wear not consistent with a recent replacement. Given it’s 61 years old, it’s pretty reasonable to assume it spent a lot of its life not being played. I guess we’ll never know. Geo did play it and didn’t believe it was a HS repair.
??, dunno how someone can tell a properly repaired vs non repaired fully refinished headtsock without x-ray vision....I know I can't....
