I really need to try a good mudbucker bass. About 5 years ago I tried a guitar player's Epi EB-3 for a few days and thought is sounded awful. So wanted to like it. I was even going make an offer if I liked it.Yes, there’s an SG club. I’m in it and so are a few others here in the Thunder Dome.
My advice on contemporary SG basses is shoot for the 2007 model year when they had the Bass of the Week going on. Each week was limited to a 400 unit run, so relatively uncommon to begin with. I’ve played a bunch of SGs from the 1980’s on and found the SG Supreme from 2007 to be the best sounding one. It might be because of the thick maple cap, but it just has more definition and clarity than the solid mahogany ones I’ve tried. If you’re going to go vintage I hear the 1960’s and early 70’s are best. Very deep and dark, not as clear as the SG Supreme guitar of the week models. Here’s mine, they only came in these two finishes that year, you can see the thick maple cap on the blonde…

Not a bad deal.
Stupidity is universal. Unfortunately. We just have social media to magnify it today.Wait. There is a dedicated netted area? And the kids weren’t swimming in it? They sound more like stupid Americans…..
But you have to sneak up of the thing first. They seem like they take a lot of prep work to eat.
... not ro mention the bacteria count from street runoff...I am not sure what it is about heavy rain that would cause shark attacks. It sounds like something to find out about. Diving after heavy rain isn't ideal around here because the runoff makes visibility horrible.
The ones I’ve played are a far cry from a typical Tbird in tone. Perfect for laying back and holding the foundation, but not your typical spotlight type bass. It’s a sound I like a lot, but many bass players today might not. That said, if you look at it as a special use bass for those times where it really fits the song well it might be a great option.I really need to try a good mudbucker bass. Loads of cool stuff on the topic online....I've been thinking of exploring the single MM pickup with a preamp idea. My understanding is having the one pickup in the bridge position means you dont get a lot of bass out of it, but the preamp makes up for it.
read somewhere suppositories work faster...And you act like you have low humor skills. That kills.
At least you didn't recommend the suppository version for Mike.
It's a very different aminal, Prolly not for you with what I gather of your tonal preference.I really need to try a good mudbucker bass. Yer not s'posed to mention that!... not ro mention the bacteria count from street runoff...
It's a room-filling sound which is why I was able to get by with that 1963 45+/- W 7ender piggyback Bassman. Lotsa bottom, notalotta definition. The perfect example of @dagrev's "surround sound" quote. The ones I’ve played are a far cry from a typical Tbird in tone. Think Jack Bruce in Cream. Lay down the foundation or tear it up!The ones I’ve played are a far cry from a typical Tbird in tone. I wouldn’t. A blackface 67 Twin Reverb, maybe.Would you all consider trading a 1967 Sunn 200S for a 1977 Fender Twin Reverb?
only if he throws in the original foot switch....Would you all consider trading a 1967 Sunn 200S for a 1977 Fender Twin Reverb?
I had a super reverb (guitar amp combo). I’d personally value the Sunn higher, so if I had a Sunn, no trade for the twin.Would you all consider trading a 1967 Sunn 200S for a 1977 Fender Twin Reverb?
Well said, that’s what I was trying to get at with my overly wordy response. Donnie seems to like more definition than an EB Mudbucker normally delivers. If he gets one with the bridge pup he can claw back some of that top end. It's a very different aminal, Prolly not for you with what I gather of your tonal preference.
There’s a site for that.... not ro mention the bacteria count from street runoff...
