Loving this, what I believe is a Pino reissue. My new Sunday gig at The Bass Shop | Selected Used and Vintage Bass Guitars is rapidly approaching - can't wait!

Loving this, what I believe is a Pino reissue.

That’s a build I did about a year ago. The intent was to create a 1966 NR Reissue in a slightly different way than Gibson did it. I used Epiphone VP 760ProBuckers (at the time of the build they were generally thought of as very close to the vintage pickups in sound). I also used the bridge and hard tail from the VP to get the vintage look. From there, I place the pickups in the exact 1966 locations (the Gibson reissue NR has the Neck pickup closer to the neck than the vintage birds). I went with a bolt on neck because I wanted to flip back and forth between fretted and fretless. The wiring was completed with three stacked pots - Master Volume, Neck Vol/tone, Bridge Vol/tone. Finally it was painted by Pat Wilkins in a period correct but aged Golden Mist Poly (same as Fender Shoreline Gold). Looks, sounds and plays fantastic…Looks like fun times! What's the story on the silver non-reverse?

Tell them "moar non-7ender lefties!"I walked in the door and they asked me to! I had never mentioned working there at all, what a fun thing tho, and they will have some good news in a few months (part of the reason they want me).![]()
Thanks! It was a fun one and relatively straight forward.Beautiful build.
totally, could've ignored (rust is very superficial) but it seemed like the right thing to do with a fully rebuilt motor going back in...The Karmann Ghia required full replacement of the floor pan halves, and the rockers' heating channels.
But I also had a 70 Bug, and a 73 Superbeetle, a 68 Firebird.
Agreed, the mechanical work is way more fun!
to live happily ever after?...if they could have you, what the HE double Hockey Sticks would they want with me!![]()
Some serious TBird passion going on there....choice picsBack from a totally fun hang with George, Marshall and my cyclist/guitarist friend Andrew. (and Carrie, although she understandably mostly avoided our bass geek-dom) I woke early this morning to shoot a few pics of the T-bird nest. Way better than any music store visit. Maybe you best have a drool-cup while viewing...

For me the star of the show is leaning against the MM amp - sounded killer through the corner Thunderfunk amp -

Some pics from the mini GTG we had at my house over the weekend. There were about 40 thunderbirds on hand including the few gems that Marshall brought and an interesting assortment of unique custom builds and rare basses Geo brought.
Marshall - Back in the USSR with Geo’s 3CP bass. It turned out to be a match made in heaven with the B-18N Flip Top.

Marshall’s 2015 is a sound to behold and gives me some ideas on how to improve mine.
He’ll have to post a pic of the newly wired control cavity on his Bicentennial bird, the proper series wiring made all the difference in the world, how she looked coming in…

Just not right, but all is good now that it’s wired correctly.
Geo’s Ubersonic is a work of art and tone monster, loved the diamond dust finish…

Geo brought a headless fanned fret 5 string that he made, its shockingly light with a very slim and comfy neck…

We all had a great time geeking out on basses amps and guitars, not to mention plenty of drinks and good food. I can’t wait to do it again and hopefully with an even bigger group next time!
