Thunderbird Club

Fellow 'Birders:
At 6:00 A.M. this morning I got a phone call that my 48 y/o Daughter, Jamie, had passed away. We don't at this time know why. I won't be on line for a while. I am basically in shock right now.
There are no words except to say I'm sorry to hear this. There's nothing else I can say.

Mike, I’m so sorry to hear this news. My heart and prayers go out to you and other loved ones left behind.

@TBird1958
You so need this to transport your BaCH to and from gigs…

Some pics from the mini GTG we had at my house over the weekend. There were about 40 thunderbirds on hand including the few gems that Marshall brought and an interesting assortment of unique custom builds and rare basses Geo brought.

Marshall - Back in the USSR with Geo’s 3CP bass. It turned out to be a match made in heaven with the B-18N Flip Top.

Since the bass came from somewhere near Kiev we thought it wise to check for radioactivity, turned out safe…

Andrew the six string wonder making my ‘74 Mustang guitar sound better than it ever has…

Geo decides on his two favorite sounding Tbirds for the day…

Marshall’s 2015 is a sound to behold and gives me some ideas on how to improve mine.
He’ll have to post a pic of the newly wired control cavity on his Bicentennial bird, the proper series wiring made all the difference in the world, how she looked coming in…

Just not right, but all is good now that it’s wired correctly.

Geo’s Ubersonic is a work of art and tone monster, loved the diamond dust finish…

Geo brought a headless fanned fret 5 string that he made, its shockingly light with a very slim and comfy neck…

And the last pic of the GTG - a Sunday morning mug shot just before Geo and Andrew left for home…

We all had a great time geeking out on basses amps and guitars, not to mention plenty of drinks and good food. I can’t wait to do it again and hopefully with an even bigger group next time!

Full, round, rich sidewinder humbucking tone as was originally intended. Pure awesomeness. Thank you George!

Reminds me of “the Rotolactor”. We went there on a school excursion when I was in primary school - may 7 or 8yo at a guess.
Big round building that would automatically milk 50 cows at once while feeding them at the same time.
Now I live maybe 15 mins from where it was, then > 1hr on the bus. 😊
According to the info below, they used to do 2,000-2,500 cows a day on it. Twice a day I think.
It was the 3rd in the world, the farm owner saw one in the US and thought “I must have one!” 🤣

Our childhoods were very similar. Filed trip to DairyMart Farms when I was about 7 to see how they milked the cows, bottled the milk, made the ice cream and the like. It was located in San Diego’s Mission Valley. About five miles from the school and our neighborhood. Of course it’s now long gone. Condos, shopping centers, and the usual urbanization replaced it.

Thanks for posting, Marshall, I don't think either of mine are period correct, so a rewire or two may well be on the horizon.

You should hear George’s ‘79. It’s a monster with a brass nut. When we initially compared the two through George’s Thunderfunk/Berg rig, I wanted to cry. Mine sounded so weak. But it’s all fixed now!

hard to tell without a reference.....but then again, it may be possible to make the miswired tone sound very good with EQ or just gain (in the case of a weak output), who knows, so many knobs.........

Yeah. It was ok through my rigs after dialing them in. I use high gain settings as a general rule. Now it sounds so much better.

Mine seems to be correct. What was the reason for this mod some have, makes them darker and thicker? Parallel (stock) makes them clearer, more open sounding and balanced overall? Do I have that right?
