Thunderbird Club

Opening still for my novel Harrington’s View whose protagonist is a troubled musician whose primary instrument is the bass guitar having a space dream -a lesson in artistic interpretation-

Interestingly I had shown my illustrator a picture of a P-Bass and a Stratocaster (the latter for another illustration). So here you see the result being a six string Jazz bass which, as far as I know, does not exist!

Mind you it’s mostly finished with a bit more inking to do-

Very cool!

Mr Bultitude is into white Wednesday, too!

He’s the guy who used to ride in the Miata with me. Sans bass. Even had the bass existed then, it was already real cozy in there!

In my initial post I neglected to provide context so here you go- from the opening paragraphs of Chapter 1-

Caleb Key lay suspended in space, completely and peacefully lost in the inanimate anonymity of a darkness accentuated by the light of long distant dead stars. For an indeterminate amount of time he had been drifting, losing himself in a playlist of some of his favorite compositions, the latest of which was Gilmour’s “Mihalis”, the first track from the eponymous David Gilmour album.

It had been cold, very cold. Lenore knew her role well for such a journey; an open-ended journey with no apparent end or goal, and where abstract realism, if there ever were such a thing, was the name of the game.

Gradually it got warmer, and then the stars began to fade into a gradual opacity as various panels of the Lenore came to life and solidity, some flickering, as if doing so with reluctance.

Hey all. I’ve been a little bit more chatty lately…Sorry about that. I just have a little bit more time on my hands currently.
I wanted to contribute to the Bicentennial discussion.
I opened the control cover for the first time that I’m aware of. I wanted to show the original untouched wiring set up.
I got mine on trade at a local music store as it came in the door from someone who could not handle the big bird.
That was late 77 or maybe early 78.
I was A Rick player through the 70’s and 80’s.
The owner and I had a friendly relationship.
He looked at me and said you NEED this. I wasn’t even looking.😎
I walked out with the bird without even paying for it.
He said bring back that ‘75 P Bass that I sold you (new)and $100 bucks and we’ll call it even.
So…A Thunderbird has chosen all of us in different ways.
This is the one that brought me to this club..

Now because of all of the enablers here I might have to attend some T-Bird annon meetings. 😎
Sure hope George is not my sponsor..
Any wear which is very little is all mine.
Mrs Gator has been enjoying snow case opening this week. She appreciates vintage aged gear.
Like me. 😆
Cheers!

Beautiful bird!
LOL - Sure I’ll be your sponsor. Now repeat after me - I am addicted to one of the best sounding and looking basses ever made. So why fight it, let’s look for more!

Damn…

I find that this is pretty much what always happens these days. Plenty of people that would come, but never can….

My days of playing out may be over soon. Playing to 4 or 5 people and the other bands is pretty discouraging.
I'm passing the info along to folks I know in the Tri-valley.

Interesting. Can’t wait to try some. Love my LaBella Tapes. Hate my Roto Tapes. I need a tie breaker.
