yeah, but this is cooler (imho).... wish I liked the sound of tubes more......:banghead:

not convinced with TE's method of securing the output tubes......too bad...

on the other hand, someone (could be factory) had the good sense/taste to place a very desirable NOS Mullard ultra low noise twin triode at the input...

Do you see issues with Ruby power tubes?
My PF50T with the stock Ruby 6L6s started making some fuzzy crackling sounds on startup. It would go away after a few minutes.
I had another set of Ruby 6L6s so I put those in and it's fine.
I'm thinking about getting a set of JJs.

not so much the tubes themselves Irv, more like the mounting method which I think it may have been a last minute bandaid to an oversight.....

remember, Trace's claim to fame was with SS amps.....mechanical design of tube amps is a completely different science to that of SS amps...

During a company orientation back in 1986, I was introduced to a gentleman who introduced himself as a former quality engineer for Lucas. I inadvertently laughed. He was the only one that got the joke.

The Witch Couldn't Shift

The witch couldn't shift
She killed it from the start
We never could move forward
We never could go back
The witch couldn't shift
The witch couldn't shift

The witch couldn't shift
So we sat there not going anywhere
She only wanted automatic
So we sat there not going anywhere
The witch couldn't shift
The witch couldn't shift

The witch couldn't shift
So out the door I went
She sat there not going anywhere
I was gone and she was not going anywhere
The witch couldn't shift
The witch couldn't shift

Do you see a quality difference between Ruby and JJ?
At some point I'll buy a spare set of power tubes.

@Miles_ONeal, i tried mine out with my Epi bird (60's Gib RI pickups), & messed around with all the knobs in different spots, & even just doing -1 oct & mix knobs around 1 o clock, i don't have any brief fundamental before octave kick in. & this goes for even when the +1 octave & fifth knobs are also "on".

Defective unit? What are your settings exactly, maybe there's a root cause we can collectively solve :)
I’m just using the -1 octave. I’ve tried a number of settings. I settled on 3 o’clock because that’s about the same volume as playing an octave lower with the Trex off. Mixing in the raw signal diminishes the octave effect. I’ve decided maybe it’s not so much a transient fundamental as a distortion of the attack. There’s also a hiss evident as long as the string is vibrating.

It sounds s little better with either my Thunderbucker VP or my CP than my ‘64 Gibson but is still not right.

funny....
That is who owns it? He did well.

I have a Traynor YBA-200v2 that uses those spring things for the power tubes (KT-88’s). And the tubes hang upside down as well, so those spring thingies are kinda important.
sure, even more so with hanging tubes.....some weirdness in this case in that either the springs were added after market (I prefer the clamps) OR they were meant for 6550s and (assuming) someone swapped them (cheesy heatshrink on the springs is a clue) for KT88s (that in some cases can go right in without even a bias adjustment) may have caused the failure as vacuum leak as in this case, happens more from mechanical shock than electrical overstress......

I did a thing today, added another Gibson to the flock, a '69 EB0 routed for a Guild PUP at the bridge, no neck/headstock damage. Harkens back to my first year playing bass, and High School Senior year. I could never afford a birth year bass ('52), so this'll do.

A birth year Gibson bass for me could only be an EB-1 (violin bass), which I’m just not that interested in — even though two faves played one — Felix Pappalardi and Jack Bruce.

Congrats!
