Thunderbird Club

That’s why I’m putting parts back together, and buying what I’m missing to build another J.
A much more affordable approach.
And more rewarding in many ways.

I have three basses in the shop bringing them up to my standards and a few more to go. I’ll get a couple PGs and TR covers, change strings on a couple and I’ll be done for awhile. I really don’t see me getting anything costly in the foreseeable future.

For some reason, I haven't been getting notifications for new posts in TBird Club-AGAIN. I'm a lotta pages behind and now, having to plan my Daughter's funeral, I'll get farther back. I'll be back eventually. Maybe

If anyone is interested in the 67NR, PM me.

So long for now.

Mike
Deepest Condolences Mike, & to your family :( i'm sorry to hear

I was working for Philips when they introduced their first stepper. What a freakin' disaster. It had a hydraulic stage and it leaked. Later I worked in photolithography and dealt with GCA, Nikon, Canon, and ASML. Things went from me standing next to them making them look small to the diesel locomotive size EUV scanners of today. What a long, strange trip....
I think it’s time you guys get a room.

It’s a II Tuesday. Its twin is in the shop to have the pickup route slightly widened. Then it will be this one’s turn for the same thing.

yes! BBO AMC's Big Bad Orange with the black stripes which came with the Go-Package...truly a frankencar....originally a CA registered yellow, auto, 343 car, I picked it up in Centralia WA as a WA registered orange, manual, 390 car.......since AMC never stamped their motors "matching numbers" don't apply here.....was considering the dark blue with the white stripes but can't do that to the kids since to them it's "the orange car"......can always get a wrap later.....
Funny thing with orange, generally I don’t like them but others I like a lot.

Your AMX I like a lot. Holden’s “Lone O’Ranger” I like a lot. The modern “burnt orange” colours I don’t like at all. But I guess one day I’ll see one I do like.

Restored back in original Lone O’Ranger - so probably better than original paint.

1970s paint colour names! 🤣
Holden had a green they called “March 17th”. 🤣
and a lilac they called “Barney’s Shirt” (after a designer that wore a shirt that colour they mixed a paint colour to match! It didn’t make production but it’s on a couple of paint test cars that were on sold to the public).

Now you tell me. I just put money down on a 67 NR II. Oh well, if it doesn’t pan out maybe I’ll give you a call.

Yeah. There are a lot of options for reverse Thunderbirds. It’s a different story finding something for a non-reverse.
You could make a Pelican gun case work for a NR. It's expensive and you have to customize the foam yourself. Other than that, it will work perfectly. You can even get a tan one so it kinda looks like a Gibson case. Covering the foam with pink satin to get the full Gibson experience would take a bit of work, but I'm sure it can be done well enough.

Chuck Negron, a founding member of Three Dog Night whose lead vocals powered a string of hits including "Joy to the World," "One" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" for one of the top rock acts of the late 1960s and early '70s, died Monday. He died of complications from heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at his home in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles. He was 83.
JTTW was the first rock song I ever heard.

RIP to Mr Negron. Thanks for the music.

There are also custom makers. I suppose if I dropped $7500.00 or more, it could be worth getting a good case made if it would be going anywhere on a regular basis. Personally, if I ever buy a vintage NR, I can use the case from the ‘13, ‘21, or a BaCH.
