Thunderbird Club

no 307 after 70....good thing....
Yes we only got the 307 until the local 253 & 308 came on stream. Then they just used up the stockpile.

The big Monaro engine was 327 in 68, then 350 in 69,70,71,72,73,74. They were imported engines so they kept reducing in power and compression ratio after 70 with your pollution regulations. Which was a bit sad for us.
The 350 also went into the 71-74 HQ Statesman and those rebadged as Chevrolet 350 for Sth Africa, NZ, Indonesia etc plus some (very few) foreign Consulates in Australia.

In at the last minute for Thunderbird Twosday…

Stay safe Dave!
If you haven’t already done so, you might want to consider putting any valuable basses that are on hangers or stands in their cases for a while.

I have a number of basses on Hercules wall hangers that have a captive neck system, so I’m not worried about them falling to the floor. However, with enough seismic movement they could swing pretty hard into each other or the wall. So while in the hangers I put a guitar (not bass) gig bag on each one that should protect it from hard bumps and unplanned collisions, plus it keeps the dust and sun off most of the bass…

Hopefully none of us experience this…

Do is see a Buzzard headstock and a Spector? Now I feel like a can come out-

Some might say I went off the deep end- well I was in the deep end fighting for air when this happened during my Florida stay alone for three months through the holiday season-

I had to re-record the bass line for the one metal song I'm working on. When I started recording the guitar parts in the intro, I found that I had one or too many drum fills and wound up eliminating a full bar. The most recent bass recording was with my G2 Thunderbird back in the Houston, Texas area, and the Fender Jazz bass I had purchased for other tracks wasn't quite getting the vibe for that particular song and the Ibanez GSR 200 wasn't as comfortable to play-

So this happened after receiving an eBay offer I couldn't refused though I had let go a mint lower priced poplar burl topped model and a brand new lower-priced Doug Wimbish one. Don't what to say but I was Jonesing for a model in matte black. Well, at least it matches the décor-

Then I had a more varied palette to work with for the much more protracted stay than I had intended - two weeks stretched into three and a half months away from my home base-

So this is the guitar I rediscovered in Florida which I had been residing under a spare bed in Florida mostly unused for the past few years- and all I can say is it's taking to metal sounds a lot better than I thought and an overall well-crafted instrument I had purchased new back in 1990. This, along with the white Jazz and Spector I brought back with me from Florida-

For some reason, I haven't been getting notifications for new posts in TBird Club-AGAIN. I'm a lotta pages behind and now, having to plan my Daughter's funeral, I'll get farther back. I'll be back eventually. Maybe

If anyone is interested in the 67NR, PM me.

So long for now.

Mike
Mike for us who get into prayer you'll be before us... This is rough, I'm sorry. Keep your heart and she'll be in it. That's how we get to still know the people we love when they go. I'm not telling you something you don't know, just trying to say you're not entirely alone- we're here any time, fwiw.
Talk soon man.

Hey Mike,

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I'm still dealing; with my father's passing last May and I'll say a prayer for you and your family during this difficult time.

Take care friend,

James

Thank you. Yes, I have 48+ years of memories to draw on.

Mrs. Young was great in that movie.
Ahh, but she was Daryl Hannah back then. She was great as was everyone else-

Have you seen the "making off" series of the film? It's on one of the disks in the collector's editions DVD sets. In the actors section she tells how she unintentionally went through the non-movie glass on Sebastian's van, cutting her elbow in the scene where he spooked her from her hiding spot outside his apartment complex.

Mike, don't be a stranger, I would really miss your wit and humorous take on things around here. My best to you in this difficult time.
Thank you. I'll still be around, just not quite as much-at least for a while. My "wit and humorous take" are still there, but a bit subdued right now. It was one of the things she and I shared.

I have not. I’ve always liked her and the variety of roles she excelled in. I understand she’s pretty shy, maybe a byproduct of her being “on the spectrum.” She has been good for Neil, making sure he doesn’t fade away.
