Thunderbird Club

My Epi IV sold. It chose the guy here at work who thought he was looking for an entry level P or J. After a week's tryout, he loves it -- as do his wife and his 5 1/2 month old daughter. Woohoo! My only regret is that some of the stickers on the case weren't really replaceable. But that's the one case an Epi VP/64 won't fit, so that's the one that went with the bass. Also the one I bought for that bass!

OK, now I only have six to juggle playing time for. Well, five because the '64 II gets the most love right now.
How do the rest of y'all polybird families manage?
Excellent! Have him get a number

I mostly play the ‘15, the ‘05 Studip, either Bach NR, and lately that $200 CP as I’m letting new strings settle and dialing it in with a Supertone. The LECS TV Silver also gets a surprising amount of love because it has a great neck and tapes that work well for Ska, Reggae, and Beatles. When I’m at the mountain the Epi Blackbird gets a lot of attention. I rotate the others in for kicks. A few of them need some tweaking that I’m slowly getting done. One can never have enough Thunderbirds!

From 2/13/26, Anti Valentine's Day.

Another Midnight Oil song for you. The Power & The Passion from The Domain* in Sydney. In this one Drummer Rob Hirst (RIP) goes to town on that water tank I pointed out in the previous clip.

* The Domain is an area right in the centre of Sydney (right near the Opera House, the Botanical Gardens, State Library, State Parliament buildings) that is gazetted for public access and use. Concerts, amateur footy games, public oration etc etc right down to family picnics and city workers having lunch.

That's great!

[Edit: I thought we were talking cases] I have two Epi cases and a TKL for the reverses. The '64 stays in the TKL and generally I use it (and for the '76 and leave it's case at home), but at times I might use the triangular Epi case for them. The VPs always live in and ride in the Epi cases.

Everything is tuned to E.

The VPs are getting less love. Contemplating selling the white one. Not for any dislike.

Going along with many of my favorite things all begin with B (Bass, BBQ, Boots and Bibs). I found some old Nocona's from the '80s (still made in Nocona, TX). Made a cheap offer based on the issues. Kind of seen better days on the outside though having little actual wear on the soles. Had some scuffs and a couple scrapes that when through the finish. Got the sfuffs removed, cleaned and conditioned, sanded (yes) the scrapes and got some Saphir with plenty of pigment to address and then when over the vamp (bottom part) and made them look nearly new and lightened up just a bit. Old Nocona's fit me like a custom made glove. Great for playing Thunderbirds regardless of color.

Looked like this initially.
