Then he handed me my guitarists firebird and said "do it".

Guitarist was not stoked that there was going to be guitar on the track that wasnt him. THE HORROR. But after it was done and mixed it really sounded wicked.

Not a plight. It's a blessing. Except that it is expensive. The expensive part is why I have a day job. Oh, well.

I will never have a Thunderbird that matches my Camaro, since the Camaro is bright yellow, not a Thunderbird color at all. It's about 2/3 of the way to being a self-propelled object again. The project has taken on a life of its own, as projects tend to do. It has a new floor pan now, and the paint and bodywork will be cleaned up in a month or so. Then the tub goes on the supplementary frame and all the bits start getting reassembled into some semblance of a car. My wife didn't anticipate this when she encouraged me to get it running again. Neither did I.

I thought about putting a cowl hood on the car. The flat hood looks more right on a convertible, so it stays. It will get hood pins, mostly because I'm a dork. No stripes and no badges. Even the badge on the glove box door is coming off. It doesn't need to tell anybody what it is. It won't really be a Chevrolet any more when it's done. No logos, nothing that says what the engine is, nothing that says what model it is. I don't see any of that as necessary. It just interrupts and clutters up the lines. I have thought about putting a pinstripe along the top of the fenders, like what appears to be a white pinstripe on the green car in the photo. That is still TBD. In for a dime, in for a dollar. It's already out of control, what's a little more money, right? Like everything else I touch, it will have no resale value because it will be exactly what my quirky opinion says is good, not what anybody else likes.

The guy I got it from (Chris Stapelton's friend and bass player) was going to restore it, but it was going to be more involved than the seller he got it from indicated, so he was just sitting on it. I was talking to him about always wanting a NR and mentioned if he ever had anything "cheap" and not a collector I might be interested. He had been planning to restore it and had many of the parts but offered it to me if I wanted it. If not he would get around to it one day. The rest is history. It's fantastic. I love playing it and miss when I don't use it.

Given your Ford, you will appreciate the color if Ford Ruby Red Metallic. Same as my truck.

Someone "refinished" it at some point. Sanded with a floor sander while drunk and applied some poly--too much in some places.
It had Jazz pups in it at some point, and extra holes for controls.
Had 8 different bridges on it (slight exaggeration), more holes than Bonnie and Clyde's car.
Had a decent neck/headstock repair, but was left unfinished and rough.

The comps to the 760s may have been me as well. Those do sound more "rough around the edges" and vintage you might say. Also seem to have more lows and and have more output.

I think a bright yellow Thunderbird would be awesome! Would work for either chrome or black hardware

Los Lonely Boys, Asleep at the Wheel, a fiddler whose name I missed, Hays Carl, Rick Treviño and Josh Baca, Stanley freaking Jordan, and Jimmy Vaughn. So many legends on one stage. So many cool songs. Stanley did some off the chain jazz stuff, then led the bands in “City of New Orleans”. Natch, we sang along. Jimmy did a couple of standards and his tunes, then led the band in Texas Flood. I kinda teared up.

He's wireless. That makes life a whole lot easier. I cannot imagine being tied to a cord these days. I think it's been close to ten years since I went wireless now. I'll never go back to a cord.

I use that stuff for all kinds of reasons. I haven't for a while, mostly because there hasn't been a project that needs that drastic an intervention.
