Nice day for a picnic 😢
It was a miserable day. Flooding in some parts of Kentucky. Lou got a lot of rain off and on. So yea, bad day for a picnic. May not be a thing there, but around here CC picnics are kind of a big deal for those parishes and likely an important part of their budgets. A lot of planning and work goes into that, and from what I gather dates can't be moved because most other weekends other parishes are having their picnics. Not to mention all the vendors and booths that are scheduled. But I'm shocked (no pun intended), the planners didn't rethink the playing while standing in water thing a bit more. I would have balked. Make it safe and I'll be glad to play. Standing in water with live band....nope not safe in my book.

Speaking of cabs, I've got a line on an unbuilt 12/6, original "fearful" kit (got to admit I kinda hate that name!). But those get very high marks, and it's for unreasonably cheap, so I'm lining it up for next week. The dude's giving me a week to pull it together. If this works out I may be selling the Schroeder.
I'll at least A/B them, which I'm interested in doing. The Schroeder has a very dense sound, lot of low mids, thick, if you will. Nice for a small band mix, it carries weight in a rhythm section. Especially a trio. The 12/6 seems like a very different idea. Different crossover situation mostly. Anybody have a story?
I'll be posting when it gets here, the build, and results.
No time on a fearful, but have seen a number of rave reviews on them. I will say six 12’s sounds like it would be way cool.
I’ve owned a 4x12 cab in the past and it sounded glorious (Aguilar GS412). I’ve owned 10’s, 12’s, 15’s and 18’s and my overall favorite is multi 12’s. That layout just seems to have the right mix of punch and depth and detail to my ears. I’m still holding out for a Bergantino NV412, probably my favorite sounding cab of all time. Can’t wait to hear your review of the Fearless.

Dave - some time ago there was a Bergantino HT322 up for grabs at rock bottom pricing in your area. If it’s still available you won’t find a better sounding bass cab anywhere near its price on the planet. That Mesa walkabout was a match made in heaven with my HT322.
Note, the berg cab is as much a PIA to load in and out as it is a sonic beast, not light and all the form factor draw backs of most 4x10 cabs. But by god it just sounded so perfect with that Mesa.
Must be gone. Not on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or OfferUp.

Keep track of what he’s doing. He occasionally does small reissue runs of NV cabs.

Sorry to hear about the floods Donnie, didn't know that could be a problem your way....stay safe bud.

Yep. Exactly the same here.
I like the ergos and shape better than a Pbass, but like the sound of a Pbass better. Generally. There are exceptions. I like my two Js with the Ashdown head. Much improved tone wise with the ABM. Before that I was underwhelmed by them. I could live without them but would not want to not have some Pbasses around.

Sorry about the unclear nomenclature- the cab I'm looking at is a single 12 with a mids horn. The woofer is an Eminence 3012LF neo, and the mid driver is an 18 Sound thingamajig. Small cab, simple set of components, apparently ingenious design.
I wouldn't get to play anywhere around here with 6 12s, lol...

Ditto. As I've stated here before, my 1st good bass was my '66J that I bought in '83. All original, still wearing the factory strings. It had been sitting under a bed for 11 years, having been owned by a prominent guitarist in Ogden UT for jams where it was used by the designated bassist, he was retiring from playing. Used it for 2 years until I could get something else, never cared for the tone or the deep neck. Replaced it with a '76 Thunderbird which I sold in '98, not knowing how to deal with the neck dive. I did like the tone, but it was a 1 trick pony, as the tone knob didn't do much. Keep in mind this was before Talkbass, but yeah, should've kept it.

I can't recall if I posted a 1st draft of this recently recorded original song by The Sean Conneries here, but this is the final version after some minor tweaks. Paul wrote the composition and Kirstin wrote the lyrics. I used my custom Ubersonic bass through an MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe pedal. As always - listening through headphones is the best way to hear it, but when we're working on post-production we make sure it will sound good through as many different platforms as possible. Enjoy!
