Thunderbird Club

Love my J’s. Including the one shown earlier, I also have these:

‘70 and ‘71

‘73 customized with a fretless ebony board and white binding. (There’s a story about this neck, I didn’t just ruin a good ‘73 neck).

And (not pictured) a ‘98 MIJ which is one of the best of the bunch.
That black fretless is SICK bro

I can't recall if I posted a 1st draft of this recently recorded original song by The Sean Conneries here, but this is the final version after some minor tweaks. Paul wrote the composition and Kirstin wrote the lyrics. I used my custom Ubersonic bass through an MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe pedal. As always - listening through headphones is the best way to hear it, but when we're working on post-production we make sure it will sound good through as many different platforms as possible. Enjoy!

First impression - very good, and it could be a DiVynals song.

Sorry about the unclear nomenclature- the cab I'm looking at is a single 12 with a mids horn. The woofer is an Eminence 3012LF neo, and the mid driver is an 18 Sound thingamajig. Small cab, simple set of components, apparently ingenious design.
I wouldn't get to play anywhere around here with 6 12s, lol...
I just picked up a used 12"/6" cab a couple weeks ago. Also has a horn which may or may not get used. Got it for a decent price and was what I was looking for; a cab with a small footprint. I'm still experimenting with it and the Ashdown but so far I like it. I still have a little time to decide if I want a refund but I am likely to keep it. I am terrible at describing tone and sounds, so no help to you there. It packs a punch and is pretty articulate, which is probably not the best for my playing style but maybe it will force me to focus more and improve my playing.

Not as light as today's smaller cabs (it's approx. 45lbs and probably close to 10 years old) but small enough to easily move. Need to scrub up the grill and re-paint it, if I keep it. It's only for home use really because I am not playing out anytime soon so I think I will keep it.

I don't know if I am allowed to even mention who the builder was because he has been (rightly) vilified for business practices here at TB. Just in case I covered part of the badge with a Post-It note. I wouldn't have bought it if the builder was getting the money but buying it used seems okay at this point. Of course feel free to let me know if this purchase makes me a scumbag and I will return it and buy a non-tainted cab.

I agree with your point about buying it second hand - but I'd remove the badge. Otherwise it looks like a generic cab and if anybody asked just tell them you don't know what brand it is as you bought it used.

:) Thanks! Not familiar with that band - can you post an example?
Sure. They started in Aus in the 70’s and in the early days the singer Chrissy Amphlett used to wear a school uniform - we all thought it was a nod to Angus Young.
Chrissy was quite a theatrical singer / performer. They spent a long time in the US and she married an American drummer. She passed away a while ago now, she had MS and then developed breast cancer - which couldn’t be treated optimally because of her MS.

Her/Their song “I Touch Myself” became used as a Breast Cancer Awareness ad theme in Australia.

There are many songs, I’ll grab a couple.

Funny thing is, the badge is attached with velcro. Makes me think a previous owner didn't want anyone to know the builder either. If I keep the cab I will paint the grill so will remove the badge at that point.

No man you're good, lol! But yeah that dude is in hiding!
Nonetheless they're reported to be really good cabs, so good on you for scoring on the used market. At least the guy who originally bought received it!

Well, we do have a female singer...

I remember the controversy about the guy. Lots of hate toward him before any mention of him became verboten.

It’s set up for a badge change then.

A Ford Thunderbird badge maybe?
Or a Frigidaire or Kelvinator maybe? You can say it’s your bar fridge 😊

There is a company that makes custom badges for cars & trucks. I should check out some of their funny versions. Make it my own

Custom one that just reads "[Redacted]"
Or a line through his name and the word “Banned” below it.

I truly have no idea who we’re talking about, guess I missed all the fun on that one. I do remember a dude here on TB that had some real issues delivering his custom designed bass pickups, but I’m guessing that’s a different guy.
