Yes, there's a lot of wrong info scattered around on the Epiphone webpages - But it's not like they ever posted a picture of a Vintage Pro in cherry finish in their promo material or news bulletin...

I can see a "burst" effect... but it definitely looks like a dark red to me (that may be 'cuz I'm lookin' through bloodshot eyes)

The Epi Vintage Sunburst differ a lot from model to model: My Korean one looks pretty much like the one you posted and the one on the Epi website - a very subtle reddish burst with dark edges and a reddish neck.

My Chinese one, on the other hand has a very dark burst with black edges and an almost opaque black neck and headstock.

Filter and brightened up picture. It's pretty obvious in the case picture that it's brown. Still brightened up, but the filter is missing.

General advice, because you caught the bird flu and are pretty excited, as we all are and especially were when it first hit us, but be cautious when it comes to supposed rare breeds. Always ask here first before you jump the gun. Godofthunder, TBird1958 and Carlo are very knowledge about any Bird produced and Hillerup basically knows(owns?) every Epi Bird ever build and most other people here owned a few themselves.

Is it consistent that Epi Thunderbirds have black nuts and Gibsons have white? (get your minds out of the gutter)

All mine does...

After reviewing my birds, I'll have to rephrase my answer:

Both my Gibson's have white nuts.

All my Epi's, except the Pro-IV/V and the limited edition TV Silver, have black nuts.

The TV Silver has a white nut, and the Pro-IV/V have black painted brass nuts.

Thanks. It really was just a quick and dirty shot I took for Kat at the bar while I was killing time having a beer before band practice. Those are Rotosound RS66 Nickel that I put back on temporarily until the Blue Steels arrive.

Yes, but that logic doesn't apply to the Silverburst, which has chrome hardware but a black nut...

Yes, and very underrated.... The Blacktop Club here on TB has got to be one of the smallest and least attended clubs around here...

I saw one locally a while back and it was advertised at just over $600 Canadian Peso's. It was the first one I ever seen and I wish I had been in the market for one at the time. two split coil's on a white Jazz body. Crazy cool lookin'.

The China made looks killer, thats how my China made looked before I got all kinds of crazy ideas. I never expected anything from China to be made with fine quality but this bass proved that they do understand quality in at least one of their factories. Love that finish

I saw an Epi bolt on Bird for sale a year or so ago that was very reddish and not what you expect from the typical brown burst. I thought I had saved pics but can't find them. Only one I have ever seen like that and it was an older version. I think that is as close to a "cherry" finish I have seen on this model.

Love those strings on my Les Paul Bass- sound awesome on it.

Can't really say. I hardly have any time on them, and the amp setup at the practice space sounded terrible. The first time I had them on I quickly switched over to the RS66 stainless steel and just put these on last night.

The Chinese make stuff to customer specs. If it's sub standard it's because that's what the customer contracted for. They're fully capable of making a world class, top of the line product
