Thunderbird Club

At absolute first I thought you were a lighter version of Phil Lynott.
Nope... can't say I've heard that one before. I'd gotten Don Brewer before though:thumbsup:

Ya know you've accomplished something, when you send the people who people seek for help, seeking for help:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
Yeah and had fun doing it. From the ages 5 until 8 I was on a steady flow of Ritalin and the Psychiatrists were rendered useless witch led my parents to question their education and practices therefore pulling me out and dumping the meds. End result?.....no changes in behavior :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:. But Im ok now.

It was a good day to stay inside and play a bit, the band doesn't have a show booked until the end of Sept. so it's nice to play some other stuff. I just get on YouTube and find something to start with and go from there............Time well spent, here's my list

Save a Prayer Duran Duarn
Thun Line The Kinks
Big Country
Dark and the Rolling Sea Al Stewart
Let the day Begin The Call
New Religion Duran Duran Yes, I slap the bass on this.
Hammer to Fall Queen Live at Wembley
Bye, bye love The Cars
Hold the Line ToTo .....That just creeped in
Room with out a view The Smithereens
Too much Passion "" " "
Blue Period "" " "
It don't come Easy "" " "
Blood and Roses "" " "
Love Song The Cure
If you think you know how to love me Pat Benatar
Rio Duran Duran

I didn't really wander around that much, I'm liking John Taylor a lot, I love The Smithereens, Mike Mesaros is truly a Soldier of a bassist, they're always a half step down so I de tuned the Greco and got his P Bass tone pretty easily.

Anyhoo...................I'm going to sit outside with a cold one for a few.
I suggest you add this to the list - the specials fresh off their 30th anniversary tour with Sir Horace rocking a rather tasty bird.

At minimum, you need to post that pic in full and at best, post some pics from your band's heyday!
Man... I'm bummed at how few of the old pics I can come up with. I've lost a lot between the divorce & moving 3 times in the last 2 years. Hardcopies of photos are packed away God knows where. The best stuff is on an external drive that she has:(

Ennyhoooooo... here's this one... all big & beautiful (or sumthin')

Tasty indeed! Even a few of those elusive slap & pop T-bird moments mixed in there. We all know that the 'bird is right at home in a wide variety of rock genres, and blues of course... but I'm really rather surprised that more funk and soul players, past and present, didn't use Thunderbirds way more often than they did. I mean... you can't tell me that James Jamerson couldn't have made a 'bird sing! That dark flatwound/P-bass sound of his, would only have been made deeper/fuller/richer on a T-bird... and this guy right here shows us what a Jazz bass would sound like if it "grew a pair". I suppose it's that old punk rock ethic that makes me want to take Thunderbirds where they don't typically fly. Seeing guys like this, is enlightening and encouraging!

Cool pic for sure!

Sorry to hear about the lost memories.

I have a similar story. My ex stole, among other things, all of my high school photo albums on her way out. An awesome snapshot of being a teenager in the mid eighties... gone.

.......I am more suspect of whether tax revenues will actually be used to benefit public education. The windfall from gambling tax revenues has never lived up to promises in most states here.View attachment 1193324

This would be my question too. Seems like there have been many broken promises along the way.

A little non-sequitur here but a funny thing happened this morning as I was opening my email. Don't think Big Brother isn't watching.

It's funny. The older I get, the more I appreciate the stuff I wouldn't have given more than a minute or two of listening to thirty or so years ago. Just one example: I couldn't listen to Suzanne Vega when she was in constant rotation on the radio and MTV. Now I think a lot of her music is lyrically brilliant. And her voice is pure magic. And her acoustic guitar work is pretty darn awesome too.

Agree. I now listen to stuff I wouldn't have even bothered to ridicule as a teen or in my twenties

That's a drag man.

I suppose if the foot's gonna come... it's better to be stepped on by it, than to have it shoved up yer arse;)
That's a philosophy that hadn't occurred to me :D

Great song and performance, thanks for posting it!
When that comparison of basses vid got posted in the Gen Pop a couple weeks back it would have great fun to drop that vid in there, Sir Horace has it dialed in! The bass was a birthday gift from his wife as I understand it, obviously she is a woman of great taste.

Seriously, if I could play like that...........Wow.
