Thunderbird Club

I suggest you add this to the list - the specials fresh off their 30th anniversary tour with Sir Horace rocking a rather tasty bird.

Thanks for this on TGIF - love the Specials and that bass-line has always been a fave!

I didn't have time this morning to add that to me, the Isle is best known as the home of the Manx World Championships for enduro motorcycle racing. Where Husky totally dominated the sport in the sixties into the seventies. We have the privilege of owning one of the bikes used for the '69 race. A perfectly balanced 250cc monster. My brother still has it in his garage. The tranny is shot. We haven't been able to ride it for twenty years. He hasnt felt compelled to spend the money for what is needed; a custom machined rebuild. We've talked about restoring it as a brother bonding activity when we both retire in a few years.
Not to mention the Isle of Man real road race. Those guys are completely insane. Pushing 200 mph between stone walls and stone pubs and the like. On streets and roads that aren't exactly smooth, either. Crashing sucks, but crashing there really sucks. And is often fatal. They do it anyway.

Ive completed the aesthetic touches on the Thunderbacker's P neck conversion. The pinstriping on the headstock may or may not be overkill but it seems to connect well with the body.

Cool pic for sure!

Sorry to hear about the lost memories.

I have a similar story. My ex stole, among other things, all of my high school photo albums on her way out. An awesome snapshot of being a teenager in the mid eighties... gone.
Man... they sure do know how to kick you where it hurts.

You & I could take this conversation down a dark road that ends in a dark place. I'm just gonna ease on over to the shoulder & do a quick "U" turn.

THUNDERBIRDS RULE!!!

<(mic drop)>

Though I have never seen striping like that on a Ric... somehow it really gives that bass a Ric vibe! You're right about the headstock too! That white stripe really makes it pop!:thumbsup:

I really dig how you transitioned from the paint to the maple finish on the neck! Not only does it look great... but it's also a detail that I think most people wouldn't think of! Nicely done, Sir!:thumbsup:

Thank you very much Bro. I intended the pinstripe on the body to ride the bodies corner edge like a Rick but wanted to keep faithfull to my vision.

I'll admit I'm curious what a 'bird with binding would look like... but I think your creation is cool, unique, and perfect for the look you're trying to go for.

A bass that's as unique as it's owner:cool::thumbsup:

Everything must have just went black, not a moment of suffering.
Based on the angle & trajectory... I'd say he knew something bad was coming... but he didn't know when it came. It's always so sad when something like that happens, but in a way... it's enviable. He went out instantly, with no suffering, doing what he loved to do. IMHO... that beats the hell outa layin' in a bed for weeks, months, or years withering away while friends & family suffer with you.

i always thought if i go GK, then 700RBII.
now, after i heard MB Fusion 800, i'm really not sure in myself.
so small, so convenient and such a killer tone.
The demo knocked me out when I saw it. Well thought out amp!

Great song and performance, thanks for posting it!
When that comparison of basses vid got posted in the Gen Pop a couple weeks back it would have great fun to drop that vid in there, Sir Horace has it dialed in! The bass was a birthday gift from his wife as I understand it, obviously she is a woman of great taste.

Seriously, if I could play like that...........Wow.
Horace and his wife Clare are lovely people too. I often go to see him play in small pubs around Coventry with one of his side projects 'Blues2Go' - a fantastic band. He's always happy to have a pint and a chat afterwards :)
