It was somewhere around the departure of Peter Gabriel and the departure of Steve Hackett that things seemed (to me) to go off the rails becoming the Phil Collins band. Needless to say, I am not a Phil Collins fan.

Phil Collins is a talented guy also, but I agree w/you not being a fan.

Very talented guy, I have just never been into his music. It seemed to me that by the 80s, Phil Collins had two bands that did essentially the same thing; his solo band and Genesis.

Peter Gabriel on the other hand has always produced interesting music (and music that I like). Seems like he has never stood still; always changing from album to album, much like Bowie did.

agree - it's hard to slag a talented musician because they are successful at mining the popular vein... I like George Benson also, but not in the same way I like, say, Nels Cline - although in the grand scheme of things they do overlap as guitar stylists at times.
