Thunderbird Club

I hope it's ok to post this here. Don't want to be a bringer of shade, but it's been immediate to us here and has changed the shape of life a good deal. Figured it's worth a share.

My little Sadie doesn't bring birds or voles home anymore, she's gone to chase them at the Happy Hunting Ground. She left us in the wee hours yesterday, and I buried her little carriage that morning, wrapped in my favorite summer work shirt, in the backyard under the shade of the lilac.

I used to tell her she was "the only kitty" (there was/is another... you get it). This pic is a few years old, but a favorite. I may have posted it once.

Looking forward to seeing her again.

I eventually got myself into work for a couple hours... then resigned to playing our weekly reggae gig that evening, right from work. Gotta walk, it's part of the deal. You have to cooperate with life, as you're able.

She's still around (she was with me all day yesterday in the new modality), but it's different of course... 16 years she was integral to the center of all our lives here. Such a character: Stoic, generally chill, self-possessed, with a penchant for unexpected hilarity. A fabulous hunter. A bit of a shrew with other cats. She was very much her own person, and she owned all of us completely. We'll get used to the new arrangement, with time. Not there yet.

My wife was pure Gold, did all kinds of homework on what to do for her while I was at work, was her in-charge hospice nurse. It was a hard time, but she was purring and peaceful all the way. Sweet little booger, she knew it was time, and seemed happy enough to be in the house with us, in her favorite place to sleep.

No words for this one Count.

Practical question, as A Thunderbird will not politely lean up against a bass amp, what are the best small portable stands to use with one of these creatures. Whatcha got?

Either this:

Or better yet, this for two Thunderbirds:

I'm sure the choir of Hercules fans will come up with alternatives... :)

I agree with most of your points, my point about the pickup was that usually if things are made in Asia, they are usually cheaper, regardless of quality. And both basses are through neck. So the build when it comes to the neck and body would be the same. It seems to be just asthetics like the bridge, tuners and volume knobs that are different. That was where my confusion lies.

Don't forget the bigger headstock, that would need reprogramming the CNC machine... ;)

Ohhh... So sorry for your loss, Roger... I've been there many times and feel your pain.

She looked cute and she will be in your heart and thoughts... :)

drool... Who bought it? I'm not a burst fan, but I like late 90s stuff and that one looks clean for a fair price. I wish I had money when GC was blowing out walnut and black 2014 t birds for $799, so I would call it a fair price, but not an outright steal. IIRC a bird was about a grand back then, 1997.

Custom made of graphite for Jerry Only to take a beating. Just an output jack, no controls. At the end of the set he took it off and hucked it at the wall. His tech said he did that all the time, things were practically indestructible. My day of working for the Jerry/marky/dez misfits punk tribute band, 2002 25th anniversary tour. Memories.

ARRRGH I missed page 2112!!!!!!!! And what was I doing? Playing system of a down songs on the classic pro. Drummer is going to be using a click now, so we were establishing the tempos for the 19 songs in the next show's headline set. 18+ in long beach CA next sat 9/9 $10 also with tool and GnR tributes. Anyone in the area want to come out?

It is the time to share these again...View attachment 2648782 View attachment 2648803 View attachment 2648828 View attachment 2648841

Sorry for your loss man, loosing a pet sucks. As annoying as my old cat is right now hovering over my breakfast plate trying to steal my bacon, I'll miss it when I get all the bacon someday. :(
