But I don't rag on Gibsons because of it and love and play both flavors. All this anti-Fender scribe is cute, but pretty juvenile doncha' think?

Good grief man, it's just some good natured fun. No one hates 7enders. Leo was a cool guy that designed a boring looking bass. We like the look and tone/sound of our TBirds and for most of us 7enders pale in comparison.

Just accept that this group likes to poke fun at the bumpers and no amount of eye rolls will change that. :p:p:p

No eye-rolling here and as stated I'm part of who you refer to as "we" - a long-standing T-bird player/supporter and FTR never said anyone "hates" anything. I play what I play regardless of what anyone thinks of the specific brand I play and honestly am not personally amused by dissing the opposition - but hey, everyone's different and to each their own :) - knock yourself out.

I'm not over-reacting, that's the fun thing! I've had something like 30/35 basses, I lost the count at a certain moment in my life... I had basses for just a couple of days, bought and sold during a weekend, tried in a reharsal or a gig and got rid of them.
Fender, Warwick, Ibanez, Cort, Danelectro, Hohner, Hofner, G&L, Musicman, Squier, Sterling... lots of basses, different kind of basses, years of gigs...

then I went to the gig last sunday, with a Markbass CMD121H, a Korg Pitchblack as a tuner, a couple of jack and the Thunderbird in it's huge case (pictures added :p ), in order to play some Blues Brothers, Commitments, Aretha, Dusty Springfield, Joe Cocker... this kind of set.

just as I played the first note, wow, my legs melted, and my guitarists turned around.

the soundguy was happy with it, nothing to do, and my soundcheck lasted less then a minute.

I played the entire two hours set switching pickups depending on the song, which is a thing I rarely do because usually I find the bridge pickup to be too dry and thin (even on a Jazz with flats), the neck pickup too muddy and both pickups the best choice.
in this case I switched between the three "positions" depending on the song, and the bass was always perfect in the mix.

last thing I loved is that every member of the band "heard" the bass. for example, the trombonist came to me after the gig and told me that he loved the fills I did on that particular song... well... it's been three years since we started this project, and I usually do mostly the same parts :p so for the first time in three years he heard the bass, and so did some other member.

plus: it's ultra light, but it looks heavy: my guitarists thought it was heavy, but then I lend it to them... featherlight.
the neck-dive it's not that bad, because the design of the body leads the right arm in a position where it always keeps the bass standing.
I felt free with the left hand, and didn't have a problem at all. (PS: I use the Ernie Ball nylon strap. with a leather/suede/gripped strap it's even better).

now I'm waiting for a Gibson SG Faded (worn cherry) from 2010 :p I just bought it yesterday and it should arrive in a couple of days, and sold the Warwick Streamer, with it's thin and metallic sound! ahahahha!

Likely not, as the navy carries the blue angels, the thunderbirds are the air force, and they have a bit of a rivalry I hear ;)

The birds at the first ever Huntington Beach airshow last fall. The blue angels are doing it this year. It was my first time seeing them, but I saw the blue angels several time, once in NY the last year they flew A4s, and then several times because I lived near el toro marine base.
