:rollno:Carlo, I know you're smarter than that. No Fenders didn't come with stands. But you obviously forgot Fenders came with flat headstocks that aren't nearly as prone to breakage as the tilted Gibson headstock when hitting the floor. :eyebrow:
'Twas merely light-hearted hyperbole, your Grace.

To be fair... is that not a Jazz Bass neck in your pic?

Watch it......

Why would I care? My point was that I don't judge to quality of a bass guitar by it's ability to misused. It's a line of thinking a lot of bassists seem to think is valid, I've never heard a violinist propose such a line of thinking...............

You can't fix stupid.

But sometimes, the stupid fix themselves.

I can't speak for others, but as for my comment... it was in reference to the durability of the neck, not the overall quality of the instrument. I still don't want one:)

Stopped at GC yesterday, & took the opportunity to remind myself of why I don't like P-basses. I picked up an '09 MiA that was hanging on the wall. It was as uninspiring as anything I've picked up in the past few months. It had that heavy, sticky gloss on a "middle of the road" generic "C" profile. *BLECK*. I also seized the opportunity to pick up a fireglo 4003 they had down there, & I hated it! It most assuredly did NOT have the same neck on it that the 4003SW has.:rollno:

Well written, Mark!

IMO a Rock bass needs to be designed well enough that it can survive a fall that happens due to leaning it against an amp or wall.

Abuse is another story. That's one reason I use lacquer, not poly goop finishes. I expect the owner to take care of the bass. If it does get dinged I want them to remember when and why it happened.

Here you go:

@theFixer

He will take a cool guitar in trade.
For Sale/Trade - Ric 4003 SW
WOW! He's already replaced the bridge & pickups! That would be an absolutely perfect opportunity! My problem is... I'm selling my LP to my best friend of 30 years. He's a hard workin' regular guy, and something like a flamed top Les Paul has always been just beyond his grasp, so I'm selling it to him in terms he can handle. Of course I'm anxious to get my new toy, but my priority is to see him have and enjoy this guitar... so... I wait.

... but if ever I was tempted...drool

Hey guys, I have a modern era Gibson TBird pickguard that has aged and yellowed a bit. It must be pretty old but it matches my 2013's screw pattern. It still has the plastic film on it even though it looks like it was pealed back a bit and laid back down. It definitely wasn't completely removed. I'm going to put it on eBay for $60 shipped, but I'll offer it up here for $50 if anyone wants it. Check out some pics and look at the yellowing. Really nice condition.
