I played with 412s for a couple of years, specifically the Aguilar GS412. With the Aggie DB750 it was a great sounding cab, a bit on the dark side in an ashdown or Eden kind of way. Then I A/B'd it next to a Bergantino NV610. The Berg sounded so much more everything (more highs, more lows, more mids, more volume) it was like the GS412 had a moving blanket over it. So off went the 412 and in came the 610. That was nearly ten years ago and I haven't looked back since.

Well I did peek at an Ampeg 810 but in typical Ampeg form I found it to be more mid focused and kind of nasal sounding compared to the Berg. At this point I wont buy any other cab than Bergantino, to my ears they are exactly the sound I'm after in a cab. They make a 412 that sounds killer as well as a 215.

The less then handful of times i've played through Berg's, (provided backline), were just awesome.
So i see why you like them G.

You find the Edens dark? A lot of the GK guys seem to love the little EX110 or EX112 for smaller venues/rehearsals. I've never heard one of those OR a Bergantino, though I've heard great things about both.

Actually... from what I'm gathering, it seems 12's are the new 15's. Cab's loaded with 10's are readily available everywhere all the time. 15's... not so much. I'm sure that's due in part, to people's quests for more compact, lighter weight cabs... but the 12's seem more versatile too. It's not uncommon to see a 12 speaker with a freq. resp. that dips lower than that of a 15" & as high as a 10". Kinda sounds like the best answer to the question, "If you had to choose only one size speaker for your bass rig... what would it be?".

They reproduce pedals well and have a wide dynamic range. I expected them to be brighter than they are; they're nicely warm. I like Hartke gear quite a bit and know several guys in Nashville running their stuff.

I'd probably go back to 12's, but keeping the GK in the mix.

Better... I was just hoping someone compared their sound to other known stuff - Just like this whole conversation that's going on with Ampeg vs Acoustic vs GK vs Eden vs SWR, and 10" vs 12" vs 15" speakers... :)

My only thing with that LH-1000 is, i couldn't get a wide open tone out of it. Of course, could have been user error as well, but i found it had to much oomph. i couldn't dial it out.
But i'd have to admit, Hartke's Hydrive 112 is a great cab.

Great if you have a roadie and play in a stadium. I'm a self schleper, so no stacked 415s for me thanks, my SVT VR is more than enough work out for this nearly 60 year old back (truth is, I haven't even lifted it off is NV610 perch in nearly 4 years).
