Thunderbird Club

Orville? What's an Orville Thunderbird?

Sounds questionable anyway:

"There are some coloration on the head.Frets: 70-80%.Neck is fine.Truss Rod is getting close to the limit. All hardware and electronics function as they should."

Darn pretty though.

Nah, the 'Evertilt' was introduced in mid '67 and some consider it a supreme POC.

Nylon saddles and tiny diameter posts with no heads...what could go wrong? Possibly the only bridge for which a three point could be considered an upgrade.
That's exactly the Evertilt that's on my EB-2. Mine's a two pickup model, of unknown year. I have done a few serial number searches on it, and they all came back different. My best guess is that it's a '67 or '68. Maybe a '69 but probably not. The label in the f-hole is an orange oval, so it's from sometime in the '60s.

A three point is a huge upgrade from an Evertilt, but I didn't know any better for about 25 years. I had the EB-2 and that's what I played. About ten years ago, I finally figured out that it might be a little bit vintage and got a case for it. Up to then, I just hauled it around in a gig bag. The neck has never been repaired. Proof that God looks after idiots.

I like the earlier two-point bar bridges, such as on my EB-3, just fine. Mine's stable and it intonates enough to serve its purpose. Those later ones, as Carlo mentioned, are total piles. Don't know who at Gibson was paid to come up with that design, but they should have been sacked, or forced to donate their salary to everyone who has to use one.

Didn't realize yours was that new, got a pic? I was in a band that owned an EB2D burst I gigged around '66. Wish I'd finagled that one!

Mine's an early '67 closet queen with the pot metal bar bridge, not as good as the pre '66 cast steel one that's on two of my EBOs. It came with a Starfire case that has eight latches and weighs a ton. I've been considering getting an Epi JCS case for it. There's no real need, it's not going anywhere. I took all the extra junk off it and replaced the witch hats. It gets one great sound!
