A half turn of your rod to the left should loosen the tension a bit, plus you'll get more action and can really dig in when you're going at a solo, also works well if you just want to lay back and stay in the groove.

To be fair, I only have 8 basses, two of which are cheap pawn shop kinda deals. Two uprights and a few guitars. Fairly humble collection considering this is what I do for a living

Darn fine rigs all of you. But most of the time it seams nobody talked about cables. I think cheap cables can really weaken a sound. That being said I am running GC brand of cables and am considering upgrading someday. I supose it depends on several variables ie inly play at home vs playing gigs and of course the amperage being used. What instrument cables are you guys(and gals) using?

No humble pie here. I do in fact have a lot of nice gear. I take comfort knowing that I worked hard my entire life to have what I have today and that I've donated far more to charities than I've ever spent on gear. Now that I'm retired I'm looking at cashing in a few of my chips but there will always be temptation to buy more gear (and that darn Carlo keeps tempting me).

I love George Carlin so much. No judgements here. In NYC apartments, we just don't have the room for too much. It's all about the balance you choose for yourself. No complaints from me.

My rig lives at my bands' rehearsal studio. Wouldn't have room for it in the apartment. When we were between studios, I actually stored it in my minivan.
