There are basses, and there are Thunderbirds!

The cat was hiding in the laundry room.Heavy. And no cats were harmed in the making of this recording.
{humorous high-on thought}

A buddy who was in a band with a very similar name to The Heartbreakers was in NYC for their first gigs...their van got stolen outside of GBGB, welcome to NY. But that's not the story. He and the keyboard player were at another club checking out bands. Suddenly the keyboard player realizes his head is wet. He looks up and sees Thunders pissing on him from an overhanging balcony...Sicilian Justice.
OOOHHH!!! You actually OWN one of these??? How COOL!!!It does feedback pretty well, thanks. It's even better with one of these:

I think the 'Vintage' appeal that is driving the cost now too.
People are starting to ask ridiculous prices for their mid-late 70's 7ender's.
...for a second there I thought I was listening to Jethro Tull. We’re at the end of the year, and the band is now doing nothing until 2018, so I thought i’d Leave you with one of our more bass-driven tunes. Sadly this has me on most vocals, but we’re not bad for three old farts!

I loved the "NR" before I loved the "R". Since owning one, I've fallen deeply in love with the reglr ol' 'bird we all know & love (but of course I'd be thrilled with either)Nonreverse Thunderbirds have long been considered the ugly cousin of the much more sexy reverse Thunderbird. It wasn't till bass forums became popular that the NR got some love, I am thinking early 2000s that NRs really got noticed. I beat the drum so hard I drove my beloved NRS for the most part out of my grasp.
I’ve seen people ask $5000 USD for their ‘75 P’s. Don’t think they are getting that much, but still asking for it.I remember when you couldn't give a post-CBS FSO away.
Thank you. That's the nicest thing anybody has said all day. That is evil, selfish and manipulative. I like it
South Dakota, where the mountain eradication program is now complete. Stay safe! It's hard to stay awake when the road is dead straight and the scenery never changes.3 hours into a SIXTEEN hour drive today. Headed to the girls hometown of Watertown, South Dakota. Her parents a have a 750 acre farm. It’s brutally cold. I’d love to say it’s beautiful up there...many parts of South Dakota are breathtaking, but Watertown ain’t one of em. Her family are awesome though. Maybe I’ll check CL ads in the cities on the way![]()
I never wanted a computer, my wife brought it in the house in 1999. I soon learned the joys of ebay, band forums and gear forums. I have mainly dealt with very nice helpful people, many who I consider friends though we have never meet .
Mark our Queen is one. We "meet " at The Dude Pit, it was a bass forum..........honest. When that imploded members from the pit set up The Last Bass Outpost a good place to hang very small group. In 2005 or so there was this guy in the next town over selling all this crazy Gibson bass stuff I thought only I liked. We connected and became fast friends. Later in life you don't make many fast friends. Bill Wallence "drbassman" was one of them.
Yep. I use it to get my feedback ya-yas without visits from the cops. It's a whole lot of fun to play with the different overtones and ways it can go into self-oscillation. Some sound great. Some sound awful. Like everything else, which one is good or bad depends on the day and what side of the bed I got out of.OOOHHH!!! You actually OWN one of these??? How COOL!!!
I thought it was on the "it would be cool" list!
yeah... not a guitar to crank your Marshall with... but I bet it's a tone monster!
I got my EB-2 in the early 1980s for $300, including tax. No case, but what did I know then anyway? I got the $300 from the sale of the freebass, which means it was essentially a no-cost transaction. Weird things happened then. At the time, you couldn't get rid of anything that said "Gibson" on it and wasn't a Les Paul. Too bad I didn't know about Thunderbirds back then. I would have cornered the market on '60s 'Birds. Ah, no I wouldn't have. I got the EB-2 because there was no net cash involved. And I didn't have any cash beyond paying rent and eating on occasion. Times change. I couldn't have paid for a 1964 Thunderbird under any circumstances then. Now, the money was there, but I spent it on the house and a newer car for my wife.I remember when you couldn't give a post-CBS FSO away.
I don't know if yer already familiar... but these guys might appeal to you & @Dr_Feelgoood212 . Fu Manchu are commonly lumped in with "Stoner Rock"... but your doomy Canadian asses might find some fun in here. They're a bunch of detuned California dooooooooods who like going fast. Most of their songs are about hopped up muscle cars, pimped out vans, & airborne dune buggies!
Chrome, Thunderbirds, and Veronica are all positive things. It's a great to have spoken with you on the phone Scott, you are, as they say, "the real deal" and I'm always glad and proud to have made your acquaintance across the miles!
The Dude Pit was the Wild West! I still miss it, it led me to Chrome, Thunderbirds and really coming out as Veronica. Who knew I'd meet Uwe and his wife, or that I'll be traveling halfway across the world to them again. I miss Bill, he was a really nice, sweet guy aside from building some really cool bases.
Hell yeah! He only did the "Sunrise On the Sufferbus" album with them... but still...Exactly right?!. I just turned @JJR58 onto them last week. Ginger Baker fans should also know about the band.![]()
