Oh, they sure get loud! A 370 is an improvement on an Ampeg to my ears. And, to be perfectly accurate, I ran the 370 through a 408 cabinet instead of a 301 as ACC intended. That may be the problem. ACC equipment always worked better with cabinets it was designed for. More or less. I ended up in a practice space at one point, and they had some kind of Ampeg stack there. I brought the 370, but they let me use the Ampeg. It sounded OK. Then I plugged the 370 into the Ampeg cabinets, and it sounded fantastic. Far better than the Ampeg amp. So maybe a 370 just doesn't get along with a 408 cabinet.
But, given the choice, I would go for a 360 stack first, then a 320/408, then a 370/301. Not given the choice, I would happily play through any of 'em.
